I have 2 of the Philips 7012 7 inch slave screens. Bought them of ebay for $20each. Work well. I use them while setting things up at home and on my base station for others to watch.

well thank you for your comment , iv'e searched for this, the price for the product is great but for some reason the eBay sellers are all shipping this for over 40$ so it is turning kinda pricey for me.

are there maybe any other suggestions?

even something Chinese.

How do they compare to the common FPV monitors?

I don't have a monitor that was made specifically for fpv, so I cant compare. I can fly with mine as long as the sun isn't shinning right on it and I use the shade that I made for it. I like it.

That's to bad. I paid $20 for the first one and the second one I got I bought with the dvd player also. I paid $45 for that. I gave the dvd player to my daughter for her new baby and kept the slave screen. They were both bought on ebay.

here is one for $25 shipped

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Philips-PD70...item20e70c23b0

saw some other for $30 shipped. they used to be thirteen a dozen and available for sub $20, but the supply is drying up. either way they are 100% bluescreen free and even at todays prices one of the best value out there.

there is a bigger version 9012 as well.

Nowhere near as bright. I have a 9" Philips monitor and an 8" FPV monitor and where the Phillips is okay with a sunshade the 8" one is viewable in direct sunlight even without a shade.

Cheers,
Geoff

that is good to know. i use a 7012 and there is no way i fly with mine in direct sunlight. sunshade is required. i know ive seen some efforts of hacking them to increase brightness but it seemed complicated and sunshade always worked for me.
