New Product
42" Fancyfoam Full Fuselage 3D Planes. MX2, Extra 330, Edge 540T.

This is a total redesign in construction for us. The "boxed" fuselage construction adds a new dimension of rigidity and looks to our airplane line. The fuselage is constructed from 9mm EPP sheet and does not have a plywood substructure. This yields a light rigid structure that can take the same punishment that our profile planes can. The plywood that is used is for the firewall, landing gear and control horns. On top of the new construction the MX2 is based off of the very popular RJ Gritter indoor competition model and we love the way it flys. We have now also added an Extra 330s.

RJ Gritter 42" full fuse MX2 (2 min 24 sec)

RJ Gritter 42 inch MX2 (2 min 20 sec)

42 Extra 330 001 (3 min 9 sec)

Extra 330s page: Click Here.

You can expect to see the rest of our 42" line converted to this type of construction in the future.

Pretty awesome looking plane. Was looking at maybe adding one to the hanger. Landing gear and control horns have to be purchased separately? Says that neither come in the kit. That's slightly disappointing.

I do like the concept of no inner structure though. I like that from a durability standpoint. Or ease of fixing standpoint. Lol.

Mike - did you happen to capture pictures of the build or maybe just some pics of the inside, battery area?

Looking forward to seeing more on this.

I took an airframe and pinned it together minus one side so you can see the internal construction. It goes together real easy. I would say about as easy as a profile plane.

Thanks Mike - is there any carbon in the fuse?

Looks like this could be very light as compared to the ones with internal balsa.

The only carbon is a strip to support the hatch. It is not structural. The prototype with out landing gear and a 1100 3s battery was 16oz. I like it better with a 1600 or 2200. The larger battery and landing gear puts it at 22 -24 oz.

What's your wing-loading on the MX-2 in the vid?

Thanks,

Free

P.S. Why did you go with the full fuse instead of profile?

Ok mike next question. :P how crashable is it for us mere mortal pilots. Lol. I am seriously considering getting one of these after my EPP edge from 3dhs is no longer flyable. I like the looks of it a lot. It uses all the same gear.

Looks like my wing loading is 8oz/sq/ft.
I have been playing with full fuselage designs for over a year now trying to find the configuration that I liked. There are a couple of reasons I like the full fuselage. One, I think it looks better. Two I like how clean it is with the gear tucked inside. Three I like how it is stiffer without adding weight. It is just about the same amount of foam as a profile design.
I believe that the durability is real close to my profile planes. I have not slammed one of these yet but have definitely hit it hard several times and no damage. We did rip the gear out of it but it glued right back in. It caught a big weed on a landing.

Nice mike thanks. Gear ripping out that's not too bad at all. This one is definetly on my list to snag.
