GWS 370-A thrust

The search engine is down and I couldn't find anything on http://www.grandwing.com so....

Does anyone know what the thrust for the GWS 370-A motor is and how many amps it draws?

I would make a guess at 6 1/2 oz. I put one in a plane I'm designing and it had a little less then the M100. That is comparing recommended props. The big difference is the GWS 370 is harder to mount in a fuselage neatly and it uses a bigger prop. I flew it with 8/300 NiMH with no trouble. I would guess less then 3 1/2 amp.

Tom, the sheet I have that comes with the EPS systems only starts with the B motor.

At 7.2V and an 8x4.3 prop, the B motor draws 4.2 amps and delivers 220 grams of thrust.

Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Thanks AZ Chuck. I was wondering if I should get one for a little more oomph than the M100 I have on the way, but it looks like the M100 will be fine.

Doug, do you have the data sheets in your bedroom too or do you have that stuff memorized?!

You can push the GWS to more amps then the M100 but then you have to go to nicad batteries or big NiMH. The M100 and 8/300 NiMH has good power to weight. I had the GWS on that setup. I love Radical RC's batteries but don't want to push them over 3 1/2 amps. You can get 8 oz thrust from the M100 with a different prop but the amps go up and the battery weight goes up. Can't see where you are gaining anything.

Radical RC Dave here. I've done extensive testing on the GWS 370-A. This is one of the most powerful S-300's in the world. We fly them as one of the reccomended power packages on the Edge-540. They LOVE 8 720 NiMH cells, 8-6 GWS prop. Expect 11 oz of thrust. Expect about 6.5 amps draw. Mine have lasted a long time. You can mount a Graupner 300 in the same box and spend about 9 amps to 6100 RPM or a RRC Black Diamond 301 at about 8 amps on the ground and 6500 rpm same prop, same gear ratio. The Black Diamond falls off to about 6.5 amps in the air. I've run them on my RRC-300's 8 cell but only with limitied full throttle bursts. They get ahead of that battery quick. Though the RRC-300's will handle it with throttle control and handle any speed 280 setup with ease. Generally the 720 is a better choice in these amp ranges. We've even got a limited supply of the 800's (4/5AAA) in stock. I've used them on the 301 motor but extensively so I am not aware of how much punch they can swallow.

Happy Flying!
Dave

Dave from Radical RC here. I stock them for $18, $2 shipping. $20 delivered. I don't think Bob at BP is going to tip me for turning you on to it so give me a jingle and I'll send you one.

Is the gws geared 370A motor for $20 shipped the best value in that price range? I only have experience with the little gws motors and speed 400s so I could use some advice from others who have experience with this motor size.

With a 9x4.7 thrust is 342.

Thrust w 370-A w 8x6 is 286.
