I never had great air at Kearns? Galena has been ok but gets valley air mass movement. Butler is nice if not major wind from north or South. ITs very scenic, quite and I think large. The park Clint flies at West of Winco off of 7200 is nice.. not giant but has some nice thermal generators or something.

Good air isn't a requirement. Just a place to fly.

Randy can help plan...

I'm in for a Saturday contest.

Contrary to Randy's opinion of Oquirrh Park in Kearns, our club (IMSF) has flown hundreds and hundreds of contests and events at Kearns over the last 18 years including many handlaunch contests. While it is true that it can be windy at the Kearns field, especially if there is a strong north/south component, it is rarely un-flyable.

Another field. albeit much smaller, that is well protected from the north/south winds is Granite Park (10000 So. 2700 E, Sandy, Utah 84093). Our club has held ALES (Radian and Open class) contests at Granite with as many as 8 pilots per round.

A quick peek at USAIRNET (http://www.usairnet.com/cgi-bin/laun...hange+Location) the day or night before flying at Kearns, is usually pretty accurate. If the winds are below 10mph, then we fly.

Kearns doesn't like a nw wind. It is a nice view and large. Granite was my park for 3 months last summer. It ranks about last place of all parks except in its score on scenery. That park west of winco off of 7200 is riverswalk park
