Question
whats the diff with hoffman motor?

whats the difference with these motors besides the kv difference. They both weigh the same, use the same fan and generate the same watts (1800). the only difference I see is that one uses 3s-4s and the other is 3s-5s. I'm kinda new to the who edf stuff but if I can get 1800w out of the same motor on 3s, why would I use 5s to get the same results...all I gain in weight, not power/thrust...I'm sure I'm missing something.

Different Kv = different battery. I believe one is for 4S and one is for 5S as you mentioned. And with lipos, higher cell counts mean lower currents, for as the volts go up the current goes down. I have a couple of RCLander EDFs .. one is a 4S power system which uses a 3850 4S...the other is a 6S power system but it uses a pair of 2500 3S in series to make the same power as the 4S setup does. I forget the two current draws but the 6S should be lower due to the higher voltage.

Other more knowledgable folks will also probably offer some words of wisdom here too.
