Flight time

Hey,
about how long of a flight time would I get with
4x http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...00mAh_2S1P_20C
4x http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idproduct=5686
and 4x 18amp ESC's? Props for the quadrocopter will be SF 9x4.7.

Seem like a good system? It needs to carry a beagleboard, arduino, GPS, and an IMU. payload capacity would be great.

Hello,
I don't mean to be rude, but most of the info you are asking for in your multiple threads you are starting can be found with some reading and study: Quadrocopter and Tricopter Mega Link Index

The missing info in your request is the AUW, the flying weight which limits that flight time. Also there are no 9" CW and CCW props sold that quads require. With your set and payload requirements and the lipo you are choosing I would guess that you will end up about 1.2kg AUW. At that weight with a 1800mah 20c lipo expect about 5 minutes with a 2 minute landing reserve. You never want to land without a reserve with a heli. A lower Kv motor in the 700-800Kv range would work better with the quad too. I would recommend the APC1047 SF CW and CCW props from www.quadroufo.com and the motors there too. In the Index there is a link to OMM's motor tests. That would be worth your time to review as well.
Hope that helps!
Cheers,
Jim

See my project

you can evaluate different kind of platform.

Thanks.
The fact that the props need to be opposite totally left me.
Can you recommend motors from the website? The information given is very little, and Im not quite sure what will work best.
@red: thanks ,will check it out!

EDIT: found what you meant by OMM's motor review. Do 4x of these: http://www.quadroufo.com/product_inf...d4af25a19d059a look good, with the props you mentioned?

As for frame, I can design/make one my self, laser cut.

To obtain 30 minute of time of flight you need to use a hexa platform with propeller of 10'' and battery around 10000 ma . The payload will be very low around 50 - 100 gr. in the FOX project I tested also radial hexa version.

For estimating flight times I use 60 watts per pound. That will give you a ballpark number. If you have very efficient motors then flight times will be longer.

Hear is an example of how to compute the battery size required for 2 lb total weight, a 3s LiPo (11.1v) for a 10 minute flight:

2lb * 60W/lb = 120 watts total
120 / 11.1 volts = 10.8 amps total current draw
10.8 amps * 100 / 10 minutes / 6 = 1800 MAH
Applying the 80% LiPo rule 1800 / 0.8 = 2250 MAH battery for a 10 minute flight

RP,
Yes, those motors work fine with APC1047 props. You can use the newly formulated EPP1045 props on the www.quadroufo.com site reliably if your AUW is under 1kg. What kind of Laser set are you using and what material are you planning to use?
Cheers,
Jim

Thanks guys.

The frame will probably be nylon or ABS right now, I can't afford carbon fiber in the sixes needed (Ile look around some more to see what I can find).
The laser is a 40W (I think) from Universal Laser systems, that my school bought (said it costs ~$35,000 O.O).
Im going to create a CAD model of the frame today, and post it up for you guys to judge.

RCMan: Thanks!
