Unboxing the FMS´ F4U Corsair.

Nice little bird. With 3 blade propeller, the scale looks good.

It took me only 5 minutes to put together.

I am planning to power her with a 2S 1200mAh and maiden this weekend.

Looks nice.

You're right. I already fixed it but not in the pics.

This plane belonged to the VC-3 squadron aboard the USS Princeton, CV-37, during the Korean war.

In the same squadron was the only ace in night fighter and in a propeller plane Guy P. Bordelon, with the plane number 21.

This plane should have a 4 blade prop and a radar on the starboard wing to be accurate with the 5N model.

By the way I had one of those and flew it without the gear and had to add nose weight for it to cg It flys great not very fast. Later on I did replace the motor and flew it on 3 cells

Twits: Where did you put the CG?

First flight: I used a Align High-Power 40C 7.4V 1900mAh for power. CG as per manual. The plane took off but was uncontrollable and crased hard on the paved runway. Only damage was the 3 blade prop lost 1 blade and minor scratches.

Second flight: This time with a Turnigy 30C 11.1v 1000mAh and a 2 blade 7x5 master airscrew prop. The plane took off easily and flew a bit jumpy. There was gentle crosswind. The plane is very fast. It was not easy to get a proper slope for landing and ended in some bushes without damage.

Third flight was similar. this is a quite fast plane and you need fast fingers during final approach and landing. I think it is better to hand launch w/o wheels and belly land on grass.

iWhen it is flying it is easy to spot, I was worried about the dark color, but the bent wing is visible at all times (almost).

I liked it.

Nice looking Corsair. I had the Airfield 800mm BF-109 but it met with disaster due to my lack of experience. I also had a P-40 kit and stuck it in the tree so many times I tossed it out after chronic weight gain from hot glue. They are tough I have to say that. Now that I got more stick time and crashing less, I wouldn't mind trying that brand again. The detail is good and tough.

Nice bird,but you mounted the gear wrong. The wheel should look to the outside.

That looks alot like the Nitroplanes one my buddy has. but the cowl is different.

They have the same problem with the gears than my first pictures! LOL

How much weight did you use and where was the cg?
