Wanted
5.8 GHz 200mw Tx from FPVHobby

I'm trying to get my hands on a 5.8 GHz 200mw Tx from FPVHobby. Apparently, the ones from FPVHobby have voltage regulators built-in. (I already burned up a non-regulated one). Unfortunately, FPVHobby is sold out! I'm willing to pay really good money if you've got a Tx to spare. I live in San Francisco, USA. Thanks!

I advise not to buy from FPVHobby. I've been stung for no reason after a couple of orders and so have others. Just search google for FPVHobby and rcgroups and read the bad rap for yourself. Adnan, the owner, has serious issues dealing with customers.

As an alternative you can buy a tiny and cheap 3.3V regulator from flytron.com

and a 5.8Ghz 200mw module without built-in regulator for half the price from foxtechfpv.com or rangevideo.com:

For those looking for a small PCB board for the 200mw module, you can buy one here:

I'm not sure if it has a voltage step down on it though, so you'll need to ask them.

B.t.w. you can order the modules from Boscam:

I got one of these, and as you all know the instructions and support are a bit lacking to say it kindly. I'm sure many of you know what you're doing, but I don't : (

Can anyone help me sort out how to select channels?

This is what the fpvhobby page says:

Quote:

Channels selection are below:

Ch1 pin + Ch2 pin + Ch3 pin connect to ground (Channel 1 - 5.705 gHz)
Ch2 pin + Ch3 pin connect to ground (Channel 2 - 5.685 gHz)
Ch1 pin + Ch3 pin connect to ground (Channel 3 - 5.665 gHz)
Ch1 pin + Ch2 pin connect to ground (Channel 5 - 5.885 gHz)
Ch3 pin connect to ground (Channel 4 - 5.645 gHz)
Ch2 pin connect to ground (Channel 6 - 5.905 gHz)
Ch1 pin connect to ground (Channel 7 - 5.925 gHz)
DEFAULT - no connect to ground (Channel 8 - 5.945 gHz)
So do I need to solder the indicated pins to something? I'm not even sure where to find these pins.

Can anyone give me a few pointers here.

Thanks in advance,
-Dax

Hate to bump myself but I'm sure someone here must know how to set the channel on this little Tx?

I got my tool set ready and am brushed up on my soldering.

In the picture I posted previously above, according to the wring diagram power goes into the tx and then right back out -from the same terminal-.

Am I supposed to solder two wires to that terminal or can I just run one wire directly from the battery to both the tx and the cam?

I'm not too confident in my soldering skills to be doing two wires on the same tiny terminal for Christ's sake!!
