Is it better to turn off my computer off at night or leave it on 24/7?

What do you do and why?
Leave your computer on all the time?

Turn it of when not in use?

Hibernate?

No matter what, make sure you blow it out often. They are like air cleaners.

My media server and miners are on 24/7. The rest of them are off when not in use.

Always turn everything off overnight (saves electricity and heat aging etc).

Have everything on an intelligent extension. When I turn off the PC, the rest (monitor/printer/modem etc) all turn off as well.

For electronics it's a wash. IC's and semiconductors tend to break during power on.

It's just the opposite for me. I turn on the Death Ray, and all the lights on the block go out.

True - but most things either fail early, or very late (the old bathtub curve.)

Anyway, been doing it for the last 4 years with the current setup, and all seems OK (so far).

You do know that there's this little counter in every IC, and when it reaches it's final count. the IC lets its smoke out? They never taught us about it in college, but you betcha they are there.

Damn! You've found out!

Still at least you don't know how to reset the counter (which I do! )

Someone hoping to get rich quick off of Bitcoin if it ever becomes a viable platform/currency. Like most miners the early ones made money and the ones later are panning and praying for a miracle that will never come true.
