Help!
how do i power a 7-12v vtx with a 4s 14v lipo?

hi all

got a problem as i have just purchased foxtech's new vtx vrx set

http://www.foxtechfpv.com/58g-600mw-...rx-p-1118.html

i have a quadcoptor which i power with a 4s 4000mah 25-50c lipo

http://www.hobbyking.co.uk/hobbyking...dProduct=11928

but this pumps out 14volts and the max voltage for the vtx is 12volts.
I was thinking of using a UBEC but they only pump out 5-6v and the low end power requirement for the vtx is 7volts

I dont want to have to add a second battery just for the vtx as this will add extra/unwanted weight to the build.

Anyone got any ideas on how i can step down the voltage to power this vtx from my 4s lipo?

The programmable ubecs like the ones from Castle Creations work well. Unfortunately you have to buy the usb linker in addition to buying the ubec. The largest one will do 12v but a little heavy. Dpcav.com has some dc-dc converters that will go higher than 12v but you will have to check power used by tx.

or you can power your tx from the lipos balance plug, just plug it so that it will get power only from 3 cells(12volt)
