Balsa Trainer Recommendation

I am looking for recommendations on a Balsa Trainer that can be flown in reasonable winds (upto 15 kmph)?

Great some more considerations:

Separate Battery Hatch
Easy to remove wings
Robust Landing Gear
Grass Landing Capable

Seagull Swift in taildragger config seems to do pretty well on our fairly bumpy grass runway. http://www.nitrodude.com.au/catalog/...oducts_id=8506

all are IC planes,, but can be converted to electric if needed. Great for grass , Good landing gear. Just replace for bigger 3inch wheels. Car to flight ready in about 5/10mins

Sig Kadet LT-40

Sig sells it as an electric ARF

No argument with Scirroco's recommendation. Nitrodude have a good mail service and John, Paul and Jan are very helpful. I would add the Boomerang 40 (and 60 if you want bigger) to the list.. The Boomerang's now comes electric ready as well as Nitro or gasser.

I learned on the Alpha 450. I would recommend this one.

well the new boomerang (both 40 and 60) are now made to accomodate eletric. it is a newish thing that seagul are doing for all of their models, allowing them to accomodate glow or electric

I just started flying a SIG Kadet EP-42b to teach some others how to fly. I like it because it has ailerons and has some basic aerobatic capabilities so that they can progress rapidly. The latest 42b has a new power system that has amazing performance – unlike some other underpowered trainers. I fly off a grass field so I installed larger wheels. It will easily takeoff on grass but I hand launch most of the time.

The new motor and prop are a little different than what it shows in the photos.

I'd go with the SIG Kadet, definitely the best trainer out there IMO. I believe they have an electric-ready version also.

I think more than a trainer - I have enough of that with foamies.

Just wanted to get into Balsa planes and want to feel how they handle. Also need something for that lazy Sunday avro.

my first balsa was an overpowered E-converted Goldberg Cub. It was a big step from my foamies, but I haven't looked back since and big planes are the only way to fly now.

I've had student pilots who've used the Sig LT-40 and LT-25 as trainers. They are excellent. The 25, with the conventional gear, is my favorite, but both guys progressed rapidly with them.
