Fingers pointing forward or aft? Which way? I've been doing it with them pointed aft but have also seen it in some videos with them pointed forward.

Your arm must be more flexible than mine. I'm not sure I could throw at all with my fingers pointed back.

By "fingers pointing aft" do you mean you have your hand with the thumb pointing down

How can you pull forward on the model that way?

He means thumb pointing down and the finger tips pointing aft after they curl around the throwing peg. A very few people (at least) have tried throwing that way. One prominant DLGer that I know personally, used to throw that way but then changed to fingers pointing forward and noticed a large improvement in launch height.

As I read it he's talking about a non peg/blade toss like the Alula or Fry. Offside frisby style with thumb on bottom and fingers fanned rearward, or the Steelhead "flip" with the thumb on top.

Pete- yes, I'm launching a peg/blade DLG (Flaken).
Being new to DLG the photos and video's I saw showed the fingers pointing aft (thumb down). Works great but when I tried to throw harder it then was more difficult to keep "hoooked" up with the glider. Tried with fingers forward yesterday and found that I could get better launches. I think that you need to be more carful with your technique this way as you could do some damage if you wrap your fingers too much around the blade.

A lot of free flight DLG guys (they call it TLG, tip launched glider) like to use the thumb below grip. Instead of pegs, they put some wet/dry sandpaper pads for grip. I think that works for them because the planes are much small and lighter. It actually may work better for them, than the big DLG grip, because the smaller extensor muscles may be able to snap at a higher speed than the bigger flexor muscles of the forearm. I see an analogy in table tennis. For many years, Asian penhold style dominated table tennis with it's powerful forehand drive, but that is a grip that cannot work for tennis.

Thumb up, palm forward for me.
