That was very interesting to see the chute get all packed like that! Seems pretty anal about his work too, can't imagine why

I thought they just stuff it like a pillow!

My guess is they don't want to splat. So they are very methodical in their methods.
The Chinese team here has really young/small women packing all the chutes for the Chinese guys. I can't imagine the penalty for not having a chute open for them.

Here's a video we did of the sky divers. We did see one guy splat. But not because of his chute not opening. These guys will start a free fall maneuver up pretty high to gain alot of speed. +120mph then pull out at the last moment to get a fast speed score 2 feet above the ground. Judge the distant wrong and you get carried away on
a strecher. A few have splatted in the water and they were okay. 1 guy missed the pond, he got carried off the field.

My Uncle Jack was a paratrooper in the army in WW2, and when he got out, he continued sky diving until he was about 74 years old. One year, he was the lead sky diver out at Oskosh...he was 72 at the time. He was also a master parachute rigger...but now retired from both...

It is amazing what they are doing these days with the small chutes, and the control they have.

This is a pretty amazing adventure you guys are having over there Joe/Jim......I wish I could have been there too...

Is that a keyboard stand the Extra is sitting on? Good idea for a work bench, keeps everything at a nice comfortable working height.

You often don't pack your own reserve chute. Also, if they were doing jumps like Joe described, it's the same as with BASE jumping... there's no point in a reserve chute, since if the main doesn't open you don't have time for the reserve to inflate.

As usual, great flying....Was the engine broken in prior to that flight?

And one comment.... you would think that with the really nice hangar, and all those planes, that the prince would have a really nice building table....at least something other than a box made of "wafer" board.... (or was that the crate that the plane and peripherals was shipped over in?)

Reading about the DLE30 makes me sad...

I've been there....well, without the dying...but mine would lag on hard G pulls...never died...but I never figured it out....It hurt my feelings paying $420 for the OS...but I really like the way it runs...from flight one. I wish I could help diagnose it, but I thing the guys on the metering spring topic may be heading the right way.....

And I also saw something about using hitec85's in 48" planes. Properly setup and on 6+ volts...hitec 65mg's are great on 48's.
