What's a better Quad? WLToys V212 or the V222?

I searched already and wasn't able to find a difference or a comparison chart between the v212 and the v222 in terms of performance and quality.

I guess the obvious is that V222 has a camera on it and the TX for V222 looks to have more buttons on the TX. But what about the gyro, accelerometer, rx and other differences? If the V222 didn't have a camera on it and you had to choose one, just for the quadcopter aspect of it which would it be and why? Thanks.

Think of the V222 as the V212 with extra channels on the TX and RX to activate the available modules. If you're getting the V222 for it's camera abilities I really recommend getting the V212 instead and strapping on a higher-quality 808#16 or Mobius camera, unless you're not too serious about video quality. It is slightly lighter because the RX board is smaller.

You can find plenty of videos for the V959\V222 camera footage.

Check out my channel for 808 and Mobius footage (sorry for the jello in some, but just click pause and you'll see how good the video is):

Also check my blog for V212 lightening mods as well as light saber mods.

Thank you for such a quick reply. I'll look for your vids on your chan. Looks like I'll be subbing to it too. Cheers!

Oh, while I'm at it, is the Mobius 1080p cam worth the price difference from the 808 #16?

The really nice thing I like about the Mobius with it's larger lens is that you can get more scenery in your pictures without as much fisheye as the 808 D lens at 720p. I don't think I've touched my 808's since getting my Mobius......don't get me wrong, the 808 is still a really nice camera and still has a place where weight is an issue.

Some more info that might help sway your decision:

i) the V222 board weighs just over 2 grams more than the V212 board. This might sound small but the payload on these type of quads is very small & every little helps.
ii) the V222 board can only control the V222 camera, not any other camera. You can still add your own camera, but you'll operate it manually (ie: switch it on before flying) - in the same way as for the V212.
iii) the V222 camera is OK (640x480 @ 50/60fps), but inferior to the 808 #16 (1280x720 @ 25/30fps)
iv) As MO has proved you can fly the V212 with the Mobius - but you'll need to trim quite a bit of weight off the Quad to get any decent flying. I noted he used some mounting parts from the V222 camera in order to mount the Mobius (but I think he's still using a V212 board)

imho the V222 is more of a toy than the V212, so if you think you'll be making modifications then go for the V212.

Thanks for your detailed reply. I must be really lacking in my google search skills because I have no idea how you gathered all that info. I queried all possibly combinations of terms with google and I came nothing close to the info you just gave me. Thanks a bunch!

It looks as though the V212 will be a better choice for me than the V222.
