Question
What Stand are you using for your glider ?

I am thinking of getting a new stand that would be easy to transport at the field, robust and with some "pockets" for field fixings.

I made a custom tripod stand, but was not happy with it at the end as it was light enough and capsised easily.

Thanks guys

Here's a free one that folds flat and can hold all of your gear!

I have seen one which is built on a pipe that slides over a massive stake pounded in the ground. I think it even swiveled into the wind. You know it's going to get windy if you don't stake it down!

The rubber power free flight crowd has named their model stands "winding stooge". A google search has several hits. I've never seen two like stooges except the commercial units. Most are home brew.

The problem I face with my tripod stand, is that its tiny base, makes the tray very shaky, thus not steady at all.

I've been using this stand for about five years. I like it. Found the basic plans here on RCG someplace. Cost me about $16 to build including PVC, adhesive, paint and water pipe insulation. The plane is a Castor 2.5m to give you an idea of scale.

Here is what I am getting, a friend has one and it is really nice and works great. Also, if you bike, you are in great shape. Also, price is ~$65.00...also, you can stake it in the ground on each leg.
