Wind S 50e

I want to try to do a build thread on the new plane I'm putting together right now. The Wind S 50e. I'll be using a hacker A50-16s, Ice 75 controller and JR and Airtronics servos.

I'm really looking forward to following this thread. I've had my eye on one of these and am hoping to get one later this summer. I really like the black, red, and yellow scheme. My eyes see the yellow base color better than the white.

I wanted to change the smaller hinges out to normal size. Just had to open some of the slots a little bit. Then on the control horns rough up the base and glue them in.

Pay close attention to the stab tube fit in the fuse. Most if not all of them are very loose.

The tube is loose, so I will most likely just glue it to the fuse once I get further along and make sure everything is straight.

Nothing a little tape can't fix.

I tried tape Joe.. but it wouldn't stay firm. I ultimately glued mine into the fuse to keep it from moving around.

Going to use pin hinging on my Wind. Did my buddy's Miss Wind the same way. Also adding Central Hobbies ball bearing control horns and ball links. Still waiting on a Scorpion 4025-12 to arrive. They've been on intergalactic backorder for a few months.

The CA hinges work fine. Not sure why you'd want to change to something else honestly. In my 35 years of flying R/C I've never had a CA hinge come loose.

I have. They weren't ones I installed however. You have to do them properly or they can fail. Not the hinge itself so much but more the installation thereof. If you don't get the glue to wick properly, for instance or if you cut too loose of a hinge slot, they can let go.

I just picked up one of these for SEFF, would have had it done today but the servos I had planned on using in the stabs didn't fit (stupid mini, micro mini, mini micro, sub-mini designations!) so I'll pick up a few new ones and finish this evening. The usual, easy Sebart build, perhaps 10 hours start to finish.

I saw the issue with the stab tube, mine is a little loose, I plan to just glue the tube in with ca, then hit it with some Aeropoxy inside the fuse so it doesn't move, I can live with removable stabs but not tube. I feel it would work fine as-is, the stabs (if put on firmly) will do most of the work holding everthing solid in-place.

Oh, one more note, I am opting for the rear-mounted rudder servo, not the pull-pull configuration. I personally have small to full 2M planes and can't tell the difference when done correctly, so in this case, I want to use the servo area for the RX so it's not jammed up against the battery or side-wall mounted, I like that option better. The plane comes setup for either BTW...

Jack, I thought the same about the tube initially, but the stabs just don't hold it tightly enough to remain solid. I glued my tube in.. problem solved.
