Watch your weight!!! 20" SBD-Dauntless build gallery

This was a disaster project. Spent WAY too long on it... but tried my best.
Basically, I wanted to build an micro 6 ch dive bomber with working air brakes, flaps, bomb release on the 5th channel, and retractable landing gear on the 6th channel.

covered the tail, got the airbrakes working, (to some extent) and got the landing gear working (yeah...) At this point in time I was getting a little frustrated with how small everything was.

In the past 10 years we have made tremendous progress in what we can do with a micro sized plane, but incorporating that many moving surfaces at this scale is pushing the envelope pretty far. I never like to say impossible because without people trying to do it we would never have come as far as we have. So I applaud your effort. A lightly built Cub would be a better candidate, but I never saw one with dive brakes

Maybe now you understand why some modelers build a second (&possibly more) of the same model? It's how you add lightness!
Good work tho'....

The Dauntless is attractive subject. It has wide wing chord and graceful curves. I built 3 channel 13" model with Durobatics before.
Is that your own plan or is it Diels engineering kit?
I like the way you rigged your airbrakes. I hope it works reliably.
Would you post pictures of finished model?
Thank you for posting.

I want to know how you built micro retracts. Its something that us flyers on the micro RTF forum have been asking for since the first UM mustang, but we have never got. How did you do it?

Yes, please do. Like Waffleman, I'd also like some details on your retract gear!

Thanks.
