Help!
Nano Hexacopter

Hey Guys,

I am a total noob when it comes to building RC but I have recently got into flying multirotors. I have a couple quads but I am now looking into a hex. I think it would be really cool to have a nano hexacopter, but I couldnt find any for sale anywhere. Basically I would like to make one that is similar to the dji flame wheel but 6-8" (150-200mm) wide. I am thinking I will have to get in touch with someone to print the frame for me, but I was wondering what all would be needed to accomplish this goal and suggestions of parts.

I would like to basically have the same features as the phantom if possible.
Lift go pro, gps with compass and return home buttons and waypoints capable. Also should be able to be controlled with spektrum transmitter. It does not need to go fast but should be able to handle slight winds. I would like 10+ mins of battery life.

This may just be a ridiculous goal but I figured I would try to see if its even possible and what it would take. If anyone knows of any hexacopters that are around that size or smaller even if they dont have those features please let me know. Sorry if this has already been covered on here. I tried looking for nano hexacopter threads but didnt see much that was recent or really any at all.

Thanks for any help!

Ben

Thanks for that. Pretty cool. I wish shipping from hobby king wasnt so crazy. I can wait for stock but I think I am going to have to combine shipping to make anything worth it there. I may pick up one of these for fun... Still thinking I may build one if I can get the info needed to make it do what I want.

another option
http://www.myrcmart.com/rcx-cf330-6a...me-p-6708.html

also the zmr motors they sell would be perfect and get youself some simonk 10amp esc from them wile your at it

or just get the package http://www.myrcmart.com/rcx-cf330-6a...te-p-6709.html

the zmr motors pack a punch on 3cell. the 10amp simon's work great. the board is a gyro only but you can always add something else, perhaps a witespy flip 1.5

also 5inch props in bulk can be got from here in good price and quality and quantity.

Thanks for the info here!! It is a bit bigger than I wanted to go, but by far the smallest ready made frame I have seen. Do you think those motors could lift a gopro? Is there a board that will be better instead that would do everything I want?

as a hex it will lift one and still have power for acro.

it could probably handle one of those 200gram small brushless gibals.

http://ehobby.cn/index.php?main_page...&products_id=3

the quad version could probably carry a go pro, and would be the same size a hex with smaller motors. I have a ZMR quad, i will do a test with a gopro and show you what its like.

lastly the witespy board

double post, apologies.

here is the vid seems the little quad handled the go pro quite well.

also no jello unexpected, although you can't tell from the inset image.

ZMR mini + gopro just for fun (2 min 59 sec)

Nice. Yea if your quad handles that well hex could prob handle the gimbal. As far as the controller goes I didnt see an option for gps or compass on the flip one. What would be the best option for that. Can the MWC lite connect to like the ublox for gps and compass or only the pro variant?

hi, the witespy flip 1.5 has only got basic functions.

if you want gps, you can add a GPS NAV POD BUT. the gps hold and things is not great.
a basic explanation. with the flip 1.5, GPS is offloaded via i2c (network connection ish) to a separate NAV board.

you would have to go to a flip pro (mega) the gps hold functions are a LOT better. Basicly more memory and cpu and a direct connection via serial port to the gps = better GPS hold and Return to home. also you can load megapirate software for waypoint functions.

Ok. Cool. Would the Flip Pro work better than the MultiiWii pro? Ive never used either.

they are almost the same thing, but you will find more help with the witespy product than the HK/RCtimer products/{insert name of big company here}. lots of people have become fed up with Hobbykings lack of customer service and their ripping off of other multiwii products.
