What Plane Was That?

Saw a Youtube video, "Squirrel Steals Airplane". VERY well done.

Squirrel Steals Airplane - the Whole Story (2 min 41 sec)

NO airfoil, just a piece of foam board. KRUDE fuse. Cigar box construction. Electric motor. NO tapering of tailplanes. Obvious tape reinforcement. Covered with ??? Full house. Dural wing mounted landing gear.

WHAT AIRPLANE WAS THAT? Looks simple enough for ANY beginner.

During the 1960's, the joke was told about the F-4 Phantom, "You can get a brick to fly, if you give it enough engine."

So, with electric flyers, you don't need to spend a lot of $$ like you do with glow or gasoline. No fuel residue to degrade structure.

Not even a marginal attempt at aerodynamics. Just a box with wings glued (?) or taped (?) on it.

Hey, beginners, why fret?!?! You can DO this, too! While the glow fliers, and the stick and silkspan fliers have 150 hours of labor, and $300 in their planes, you can put together a squirrel plane or a tripod box plane in a day, and go fly! Minimal cost! Maximum fun!

Lots of cardboard planes on Youtube, AND THEY FLY! No sophisticated design. Just sort of "that looks right".

The difference between cardboard and foam is speed. No floaters with cardboard. No prop hanging. No Lomcevaks. Again with the joke about enough engine, you can fly a brick.

The upside about cardboard is that, if it crashes, you're out, what, $1.00?
