Mine is facing down per the stock setup. Do I just cut it out and glue in a new one?

Yes, that is right. This mod along with getting rid of the rudder servo opens up sooooo much room inside, removes any flex, moves weight rearward to allow bigger batteries (anything that physically fits that is such as a 3s2250 45C lol.......) and reduces dead weight of the steel control rods. Drag caused by the external elevator servo is negligible since it's in line with the vertical stab.

Basically free mods using scrap building materials.

Save up for the Talon35 and enjoy it as well. The motor/esc/spinner/blades together are less than what a nice dinner and movie out with the wife costs..., So treat yourselves.
What makes the 2221-12 better than the 2217-12?
The specs look similar, 2221 is a little less kv and about 15 grams heavier.
Wouldn't the lighter motor with higher kv be better?

Thanks again, Im loving my Kunai

Yup, easy with a sharp blade, flip it over and add new epoxy

Sounds logical but the smaller 2217-12 motor is going to get really hot spinning the 8x7 on 4s, has 3.2mm shaft and needs more throttle control.... You're pulling 38 amps lol. Oh, and you need a 35A esc (IMHO the Talon35),. Envision a turbocharged 2.4L engine putting out 300hp... Which is still like doubling the stock 170hp motor.... In visualization terms.

The longer 2221-12 will handle more, thicker 4mm shaft that will handle any bumps. It only needs a Talon25A for those that have one already ..... This motor also handles 3s If you put on an AR10x8 Envision the 6.4 v8 putting out 425hp.

Bigger is better.....for that 15 grams extra weight. And why having the elevator servo outback counters that weight! Muahahahha

4s is JPL
