Easystar II is all but boring, despite the fact it is pretty stable, and it can perform all the aerobatics, once you get aquainted.

A part from the maxed servo throws, Piero is very good with it: because the airplane's winglets, the rolls he performs require a lot of rudder input to happen so fast.

^^ what L said!

Rolls with the ES II using ailerons only is a recipe for disaster really, needs lots of height to even try it as the plane will lose a lot of height and do more of a spin-roll than anything else... Full throws everywhere and using the rudder during rolls makes it fairly snappy. Mind, it is not a P51 though :-)
Oh, and always be at least three mistakes high when trying for the first time.

OK, here's my first flight with the Easy Star. Some aerial, some ground footage. I tried to keep the edit reasonably short and tight.

I bought only one battery and all is filmed from the first and yet only charge. It just keeps going on forever!

I started at the recommended throws. In the end you can see I'm getting a bit more comfortable throwing it about. but likely will not hit it low like Piero...

Update time, after some more flying with the Easy Star.

I maxed all the throws. I could roll with only a touch of down elevator and from my onboard video the nose points at the horizon all the time. It became very sensitive to the elevator though so I hade a couple of early rollercoaster moments.
I'm gonna start saving up for a better TX to be able to use expo, now i get by on DR.

Since the weather was absolutely perfect I found out that the little Mobius has a small adverse effect on the handling.

Also I tried something from the FliteTest; flying with dogs. I flew figure eights and they chased the plane until their tongues were all the way to the ground. Hysterical

Lastly, the Mobius off and looking for thermals and found one and had the pleasure to circle while the plane just went up and up and up.

KristofferR,

You make some delightful videos, and capture some nice photos!

Good to read that you are having lots O' fun with your planes.

PS I keep a Sky Scout/Easy Star II in the back of my truck at all times.

I love this little guy on FPV. From my thread in the FPV Aircraft sub-forum;

EasyStar II FPV with a 41ap autopilot (3 min 22 sec)

I don't intend to duplicate the great info on this ES2 thread. Just trying to let other FPV flyers know how good this little guy is! Fly's great rudder-only imho.

Does the magnet for joining wings effect the receiver performance.

No magnets are used on the stock ES2/Skyscout wing joints or canopy. I guess you could use some if you wanted to and I doubt that they will adversely effect Rx reception as long as they are not too close to the antenna. I use some Velcro on my wing joints for a little more security.

Pretty strong magnets are used on many canopy's like the Bixler range and they do not effect anything. Also, very strong magnets on the brushless motors as well.

Fatshark 5.8g 600mw vtx, Surveilzone hs1177 600tvl ccd camera, and FS Dom V2 goggles. Also using a fy 41-ap lite autopilot. Even with all this extra weight (930g flying weight with 3s2200 battery) it fly's/glides very well.

You can see more details on my ES2 FPV thread;
