Practicing what I preach I have just started the build log for my Mercury Mars, link in Post #1.

We now have as many entries (18) as the Frog build off did, and still 6 months to go. So come on you guys who haven't yet started your build logs - get cracking!

Oh yes - and Dereck, any closer to making your mind up what you are going to build yet? Procrastination is the last refuge of the unsure!

Hello Britkitters. Sparks delightful rudder/throttle Veron Coupe became the fourth entry to fly successfully today (20/07/12), see his build log for some excellent pictures. Come on you guys, especially those who haven't started a build log yet. Or those who are still making their minds up about what to build (none too subtle hint Derek!)

Sundancer is right guys, it was great to build the little Coupe.

I'm not a fast worker but it has taken very little time to build and, another benefit of building small is that I didn't need to buy anything! Less than a sheet of 1/8 balsa, some 1/16th and 3/32nd from the offcut box. and a couple of small ply formers for motor and U/C mount. Best of all it flies really nicely and I think it looks nice in the air

It seems that the last fashion among the RCGroups Vintage modelers is the conversion of C/L models to R/C ones.
Please George, count me in the contest with the “K/K Radian”.

Hi Guizzo

Delighted to have you in the build off, I have posted your entry in post #1 and will add the link once you have started your build thread.

The Radian, should be interesting. Will it be the designed size or scaled up? I presume it will be electric?

Looking forward to following your build.

George

KK Radian! It reminds me of my youth. I love it's lines and racing shape. I'm already looking forward to following this one closely Guizzo.

I have made a "unilateral executive decision" and press-ganged Froglube's delightful Veronite No 3 as an entry. Hope he doesn't mind!

Dear confused of Lancashire!

(Of course as a Yorkshireman I expect all Lancastrians to be confused). If you read Post number 1 in this thread I think all will become clear. The idea is that entrants build a model, if they wish (and most do) posting a "build thread" as they go along so we can all share in their progress. At the closing date there will be a poll in which all RCG members can vote, then a result is published. No prizes as such, just good fun and the fact that entrants get a nice model - or two. There is a "general" year long build off each year, but I ran one last year restricted to FROG designs which produced fifteen entries (see http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1652806 for the results) and this year I am trying one for British Kit designs which seems to be popular.

The great thing about build offs is that they give the incentive to start - and finish - projects you might not otherwise attempt, we all learn a lot by following the build logs and -in my case - as a result of participating in three build-offs since the start of 2011 I have seven nice, good flying, models (plus one on the way)

So - no prizes, just enjoyment, have a look at some of the build logs linked from post 1 of this thread and I think you will get a feel for how everyone is having fun and promoting vintage, traditional, model building..
