Issues with Carbon Z Yak 54 Out of the box
Ok, I am not a happy camper here. I just spent $399 on a Carbon Z Yak 54 foam plane by horizon hobbies. When putting the plane together, I encounter 2 show stopping manufacturing issues.
1st issue -- the damn eyelet on the top of the body where the rudder rod fits into, is set in such a way that when the rudder was slid gently into the eyelet, the cheap plastic broke. Basically, the eyelet position is right in line with the wide part of the plastic rod and not in line with the small stub on top that it is supposed to connect to.
2nd issue -- the right elevator appears to have the harness plastic built backwards. When I go to slide it on and secure it, the mounting plastic from the body and the securing plastic of the elevator meet on the same plane, instead of being on opposite sides of the elevator for securing with a screw.
Has anyone else with this plane had the same issues? I am going to take the plane back to my local hobby shop tomorrow in hopes that they can fix the rudder eyelet. I am also hoping that he can give me a new elevator piece that is built correctly, or at least figure out a way to move the plastic piece and secure it properly.
This is my 2nd plane and I am really disappointed right now. I was assuming that for $399 it would at least get built together properly. Neither issue is anything that I did wrong.
