I just spun up a http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=14742 . I got 39 amps with a Flightmax 2200 20C 3S spinning a GWS HD 3 blade 10x6 at 9600 rpm peak. It settled down to about 340 watts after about 8 seconds. After about 20 seconds the wattage started to climb so I would put its max wattage somewhere below 350? I think its a great motor for the price!

Yea. Most of those bell motors aren't the most efficient; but cheap was cheap can get and WILL fly your plane just fine. Good enough for the average Joe flyer.

For the power to start rising after some time under load sounds wrong. I believe Kv rises as magnets get hot and start to demag, so this might be what you are seeing. It's a vicous circle - as the magnets weaken Kv goes up so the load with the same prop and pack goes up, so the motor gets hotter...

I noticed after the run that the battery was a bit warm. I would say 120F? Maybe that was the reason for the 10 watt increase?

Either way, I would not put the 10x6 3 blade out of the good props for this motor!

Could well be. Forgot it's kinda cold where you are. LiPos don't like cold.

Ok I saw 360 watts with a GWS HD10x6 2 blade at 10,600 rpm. I tried a 10x8 and saw 430+ watts so I immediately stopped without taching. Dr Kiwi, where are you? This is where you are the king!

The good doc isn't needed.

For these cheap motors, here's how I test:

put prop on, rev for 5 sec increments. If it doesn't get hot and has enough thrust, I throw it in the air and go fly. End of story.

Rule of thumb would suggest about 250W max.. but, heck, it's a cheap motor.. enjoy it while it lasts..my suspicion is that it will cook before too long at that level...but maybe it will surprise us all. I checked 10x6 HD at 10500rpm and 350W.. would you believe that those figures exactly matched what I got when I tested a Mega 600/20/6!

He said it was just getting a wee bit warm on the full load tests. This is bell type motor but it is a newer one. Not sure who made it but it looks to have something in common with a similar TurBORIX motor so they might be the maker maybe.

Looks like you can rely on it for an honest 4-5 Watts per gram peak rating.

Anybody play with winds on this one? There seems to be plenty of room left for copper. Some of you guys kill me with how much wire you can pack in there!

It had been mentioned here and there, at least once on the DT750 thread, but I don't think I remember anyone doing a rewind on it yet. I'd expect it to be as rewindable as those are. And the results could be just as rewarding.
