Awesome stuff!

Looking forward to getting started on mine.

Do you think the magnet idea on the front gear door (tiny mag with a washer on the door) would cause the problem with the stock HET air struts? I'm assuming they are strong enough to push open a tiny bit of resistance like that?

Yes.
I specifically did not use the Air on the nose because it *might* have enough power to actuate the door, but it probably wouldn't lock into place 100% of the time.

If you're going to do this gear door mod, I highly suggest a big Electric Retract like the E-Flite 60-120. The upside to the E-Flite retract is that the stock Trailing Link Suspension strut plugs right into the Nose Retract

60-120 E-flite retract are using same motor as 25-46 size.
If you do that. Do it with 25-46 size. At least I had upgrade trunion for replace if stock one broke.

Pick your poison, as long as they can take the Strut.
25-46 Strut is too small to fit the Stock Super Sniper Sniper Strut.

Besides, the trunions hold up just fine if you run them within they're rated range.
My HET L-39 (~10lbs.) flew countless flights off dirt and pavement with no trunion trouble

You mean the pin for steering to small?
I had both gear in my hand and I don't see any problem with clearence with the struts.
Beside 25-46 is 4mm pin and 60-120 are 5mm pin.
The problem with nose trunion is too thin with the material.
I can stress them apart just by pulling on the struts. If you land nose first. Say good by to the trunion.
Even 8 lbs aircraft.

I was talking about the pin going into the trunion (4mm vs. 5mm).

Yes Tam, everybody who buys your stuff will have a good plug'n play system.

Everybody else who buys other stuff need not worry, it works well too

Free day today!!!
I'm going flying.

Help please...

I've either gone stupid (more than before!) or something isn't right....

The pics below are the 3 struts I have for my sniper... Its the factory set and they came in a bag with "sniper XL" written on them in black vivid.

How are they meant to fit??? All 3 appear to be exactly the same except the air outlet which is swapped on one. But they seem to rotate/swing the wrong way to fit into the wing cutouts.

Those are not HET retracts, they are something else. HET ones are conventional, leg folds down onto piston, also just been looking at the HET ones and a bit worried at the lack of support in the mechanism around the piston end, there is no shaft or bolt system holding that end together...

looking here: http://static.rcgroups.net/forums/at...7-IMG_0349.jpg

Those were linked on the first pages... And is EXACTLY the same as what i have. The HET page has then here: http://www.highendrc.com/index_eprod...roducts_id=270

But they are different that what Vic has in here: http://static.rcgroups.net/forums/at...2-DSCN5170.jpg Although I thought I read that they do use the same as the L39?

These ones look like what Vic has (based on the colours of the cylinder) but it has one air tank and mine has two? http://www.highendrc.com/index_eprod...roducts_id=233

Here is the one I am playing with on my desk, with the leg that came in the sniper box. Air up spring down, not sure what those other ones are for...

Do you have a L39 set? I think that's what I have.

The set I have is this (exactly the same, same parts, two cylinders etc):
http://www.highendrc.com/index_eprod...roducts_id=270 I believe. My package of struts was labelled sniper xl, so I assume they screwed up.

I'll have to send them an email
