I can't speak highly enough of the Arowana. Had mine a few years now & it is still going strong. The gel coat has some hairline cracks but that's the result of quite a few big 45mph tumbles.
I usually run an 8Xl motor in it but I'm trying one of these in it now.

Paul: is that the hi-model 8xl? Let us know how that motor runs. Was thinking about one of those on 4s or ordering some 6s packs and a 1400kv version

A great motor. It's actually an FSD (Feisuda) motor under the Hi Model brand.
I run an X440/3 prop with it. Allows the motor to rev & keeps the temps around 40-45C
I also run it in the 33" Hydro turning an ABC H-5 prop.
I've got a couple of those Typhoon Motors too. My favourite prop on it is a Prather S220 but that's only in a 25" hull not a big 32" one like the Arowana. How are the temps with the K45 prop?
I think the motor that comes with the Arowana is also an FSD motor.

Don't have a temp gun but after 6min+ its on the high side off warm. You can keep your hand on it without it being too hot. If theres a low ambient temp (~18deg for perth) then its a little cooler. Have a w/c mount / straight shaft setup on bearings.

What timing are you running with the typhoon out of curiosity? have the 80a turnigy plush set on medium, which is 15/17deg?

Am curious to try a tenshock m4 metal prop with it (as jan suggested too me) but now wondering how one of the graupner 440/3's would go.

Cant seem to find the 8xl on the hi model page, i swear though you provided a link to it in the past. Maybe they dont stock it anymore.

typhoon did a nice job powering this cat!! motor would have been fairly hot though with the 645 prop? that cat looks like a similar size if not a little smaller than the arowana

So You can get 6 minutes with the Typhoon in the Arowana with the K45 prop? Man that's good going. Don't think you will be able to with the 8Xl even with a smaller prop. although I've never tried it. Here's the link to it at Hi Model.

I run 15 degrees on the Typhoon & the Xl type motors.
Pete's Drifter S is 26" I think, but the X645 prop certainly put a lot of heat into the motor. Found an M445 to be a better prop.

Thanks for the link / info Paul. I think i may have to order one. Do you know how they compare to the identical leopard? What sort of runtime do you get with a 5000 pack & a x440/3?

Yeh with the 45k prop (never bothered trying the 42k). I have x2 2650mah 30c turnigys in parrallel. After 6min of nearly continous full throttle with little stop / starting i was putting back 70-75% into each pack. Lately though im putting back less and it seems a little slower, i think the packs are showing there age. The driveline has v little friction which probably helps.

Have some 6000mah 2s packs on the way which have been sitting in zurich for 2 weeks! damm u swiss post

The run time with the 8Xl & 440/3 prop is 3 to 3-1/2 min at best.
A 5 lap race plus mill lap & slow down lap is about 1-1/2 to two min long & I have about 30% left in a 5000mah 45C pack.
Not sure about the Leopard.
I did run it today with a Leopard 3674 2200kv 4 pole Leopard spinning an ABC 442/3 prop
& it was quick & stable in some pretty choppy water after I dropped the turn fins deeper & lowered the trim tabs another degree or so.
Temps & battery usage was about the same. Probably only slightly faster than the 8Xl & 440/3 combination.

ahhh, fair difference then, but then my boat probably does 37ishmph compared to your 45. Nice work with the new motor
