Hi Brian,
Thanks!

I have following motor there: NTM Prop Drive Series 35-36A 1400Kv / 550W

This ESC: TURNIGY Plush 60amp Speed Controller

This servos: Corona DS238MG Digital Metal Gear Servo 4.6kg/ 22g/ 0.14se

I use 10x6 propeller.

And two 2200mA 3S Turnigy Nanotech batteries connected in paraller.
Turnigy nano-tech 2200mah 3S 25~50C Lipo Pack

The weight is around 1150 grams without FPV equipment attached including batteries. I used wooden wing joiner and cords method for strengthening the wing similar as it was described here. The motor is mounted on the wooden wing joiner with own build motor mount. Servos mounted on top of the wings. I also built own control horns from aluminum sheet. Glued with epoxy to the wing. The airplane is very controllable and very stable even on full throtlle speed. I am very satisfied with it!

Did not use any lead to get CG, just batteries and ESC. CG is around 32 centimeters. Wïth CG around 30 centimeters it helps to not the wing to fly up but straight with motor applied. I still play with it. As I add some FPV equipment.

Mostly flied around half throttle in the video.

I get about 20 - 23 minutes flight time.

Regards,
Pavel

Can any one tell me of a good motor that would be light? I want to use the lightest motor and battery as possible. I like to keep it light! That is for the Maxi swift.

I'm not sure what to recommend, most motors will be around 120-160g anyway. I wouldn't try to cut corners with the motor performance though. The Maxi Swift can handle a lot of weight.

The Maxi Swift can use all the power it can get, even when it's not really ever going to be a high speed racer anyway.

Chasing Train or Flight from Lutotín to Kostelec and Back

Chasing Train or Flight from Lutotín to Kostelec and Back

Recent flight with Maxi Swift with APM 2.5 and ArduPilot 2.7 firmware and MinimOSD 0.1 with extra firmware r462 and also with HK OpenLRS TX and RX with this TX antenna http://www.ebay.com/itm/180977771287...84.m1439.l2649 and own created sander style RX antenna.

I tried to chase the train which went there, that it is why I tried to fly fast (around 102 km/h ground speed) with 80% throttle. I never was that far yet. 1,2 km far from home launch point. So still discovering, I'm learning and tunning new things every day. It was flight from one village to other near city. Exchanged HK Orange Open LRS RX antenna with own created "sander style". It helped with RC control the way, it never triggered fail safe during the flight even flew farer and faster in comparison with stock HK RX antenna. I'm still tunning APM. Still learning things. Looks to me that first I need to tune the flying wing without use of APM. And then to try to tune APM. I am still somewhere in middle in this. Will read more and will try. Still working on better reliability of RC link and will tune RSSI with filter at least or maybe op-amp and will find out what will work best. And also going to select right UHF carrier RC control frequency for optimal performance and longer range reliability. Also will try "turn style" antenna on RX in the future. I like pan and tilt camera possibility, but with 5.8 ghz antenna on head it is not optimal. Since every time you turn with head, it could break video. But it is fun anyway. Doing things step by step. Also needed is to tune layout of components and embed them inside into the flying wing. Eg. to put batteries inside. Also to select optimal positions for VTX, RX, GPS and embed cables into the flying wing. But I just take time to find out and to tune things.

My Maxi Swift - Under Construction

Well, after only 2 or 3 successful FPV flights on my Bixler, combined with how much I enjoyed flying my PopWing, I decided I wanted to switch to a wing for FPV. So, I bought a Maxi Swift.

With the experience of assembling the PopWing, building this one was relatively straight forward, just bigger. Much, much bigger. I went with a Turnigy 60Amp Plush ESC, a Turnigy 3542/5 1250KV motor, a HobbyKing 5amp UBEC, Corona Servos, and will be running (2) 3S 2650 LiPos. For FPV gear, Im using a Cyclops Storm OSD, RMRC 1.3GHz 400mw Vtx, and will be using (2) Esky 3S 800mAh Lipos for OSD and camera power.

So, heres some pictures of the progress so far. More to come.....
