They definetely are, i mean i'll be saving about 25 grams over the KAN pack plus i'll have 10 cell like voltage, should be a winning combination. I also need as much power as posible as i am not providing thrust equal/more than weight. I looked back and noticed GO is using a 28 oz powertrain with 20oz AUW, he doesn't even need the aerodynamics, where as i had to keep drag to a minimum. Thanks for the opinion, i'm sold on the 2A pack now

You could of course just as easily say 1Ah is worth 75g. You have to consider everything. size, balance, AUW, power, etc...
30g can make a big difference in some cases. Often it won't.

Snake,

Which type of 480 motor is it that you will use? Long can type or replacable brush type? What current do you plan to draw at full throttle? What is the total weight of the plane minus the battery.

Aidan

I'd look at the maximum power your motor and ESC can handle and get the battery that suits them. There's no point lugging around extra weight for half hour flights when you could fly a lighter plane and change the batteries at half time - it's not much more expensive to buy more smaller batteries.

OTOH if you think you might want to fit a bigger motor, or a twin, you should plan ahead.

One of these days I'll get around to building an X-wing...

Definetely, i planned ahead not long ago and got a more expensive charger for all batts including lipo. Money worth spent, i say .

I'm also going to get these lipo for all my models, i mean i don't have much, battery wise, and i was wise to keep my nickel type batterys to a minimum, i want to make the lipo change and stick with it (i hope).

And yes i suppose extra weight is gonna be ligged around with the 2A pack while the 1.6A is also very good, capacity wise anyways. My only concern is with all the models that i would use these batts with, would definetely require nose weight or tail weight to keep in balance, where is seemed that my old N-500 AR pack would balance perefectly at 150 grams, the 2000 mA would be in a sweet spot as it is in between the 185 gram KAN pack and 500 AR pack (150 grams). The 130 gram 1600 mA lipo wouldn't prove worth the less weight.

Aidan, I said that "considering weight and capacity only, I'd buy the 2Ah batt". And of course 75 may well be worth 75g. But the truth is for most models a 30g difference is not critical, or even barely important at all. However, if batts are a major % of the AUW, it's better to have shorter flights but use a lighter plane.

None, you'd be better saving your equip for something that woudn't fall apart ! Thouhg i bet it would be soooo cool if one were to build a blue foam falcon this size, and have a 'light weight' setup. Now i wander how you would power it?
