That's an extremely good observation. You should probably change your title to "250GT from a DH9116". Those type of threads attract lots of interest and teach us all something. Guys like me can tell people how difficult it is, but we don't have the same perspective as somebody actually doing it.

It could also be it just needs a minor pitch adjustment, if it always drifts one way.

New problem. Got the head locked, and was hovering << AWESOME >>
best I have done yet. It was actually going pretty much where I told it to. Then mid-flight, the tail lost authority, so I set it down. After looking close, I saw that the belt was suddenly on inside out. (the teeth were facing out instead of in). It is also slightly frayed in one spot. I assume the loose threads caught somewhere and made it flip. I'm probably lucky it didn't explode mid-flight. The head speed on these is insane, even with a beginner setup. Anything I should be looking for? Or do these stock belts only last 20 flights? |

Usually the belt flipping like that means it got loose. Belt quality of these clones is not good and they stretch easily. Check to see if the Wasp belt is compatible. Or, try a LHS for an Align 250 belt. I hate replacing belts. Especially on a 250. While you are at it, check the tail boom tube. A Wasp boom might fit and I believe it's a lot stronger.

HK250GT Stock Belt
Ok, got it sorted. Actually, I am lucky to get 20 flights.
According to responses on the HK site, Some people only get 5-10 flights out of a stock belt (although I'm sure they had them too tight). Only one guy said he had 50 flights on a stock belt, and he probably works for Hobby King ![]() It's a $2 part, and you get what you pay for. I need to buy the Align belt, and all should be well. Every single heli I have is grounded, awaiting parts... What a crappy weekend ![]() Well, it wasn't all bad. The 4 minutes of hover on my 250GT before the belt went out made it all worth it. That was so awesome. And at least I didn't total the bird when it went, others did. I need to remind myself of that

I checked it... makes perfect sense. Wasp boom looks like a perfect match, but the belt is way too long, so I'm down for a spell. I have plenty of work to do anyway. |

Align's tail booms work great. There is a company that makes Kevlar belts. I tried some of them, they last a little longer, but they break too. Now I use the cheap belts, but I keep a close eye on them. I crashed both of my 250s today
, I think I fly those things too hotly because they are so fun to fly. Unlike my 450s which I fly very conservatively because they make a lot of noise when they crash.

I could live with the occasional crash if I could just get the stones to make the heli do something other than hover. I will when I'm in total control, but I'm not there yet. Still having fun, even just hovering, so that's what matters. |
