Yep; Training rings would be good for Noobs. Maybe Gents don't remember that one of the first popular cheaply priced XUFO (for that time in 2002 @$300) multicopters had a protective foam ring.

Most would soon remove it because the flight performance would greatly improve especially outdoors in any wind. Other mods to the gyros were required on that one to make it fly decently too, but that was back in the Cro-Magnon days of multicopters...
Cheers,

Banggood will have it soon:

This is interesting, 6 axis, WL-Toys looking transmitter. If it uses the same protocol this could be the next step up to the V939 (I wouldn't be surprised if the V939 6-axis is very similar)

Wonder how well she flies with the protective gear removed.

It is just the U816 "6-axis" with the same Tx and some rings. It is not Turnigy/FlySky protocol. If it is the same flight controller code as the older UDI U816 then it will not have very good throttle control for hovering and will be doing a lot of yo-yoing. Hopefully they fixed that this time...It was still fun to fly though, just not very precise control.
Cheers,
Jim

Are you sure the normal one is 6-axis? It doesn't say it in the description:

Hi M,
Yep. I have one. That was mistake in the ad which says that it is "4-axis" was discussed when they first came out. They are fitted with an Ivensense MPU-6050 which is a gyro/accelerometer. It performs self-leveling as an multicopter that states "6-axis" will do too. Not sure why the ad is even more miss-leading than the others... As a matter of fact even the box it came in has "6-axis" printed on it.

Cheers,
Jim

The HCW553 (first photo) shows a laser beam shooting out of the canopy! Is that an LED light?

Yeah, yo-yoing - I can control a yo-yo. Yesterday was the first real try in an open field and after shooting it up into space a few times I calmed down and kept it at 10' while I got the thing figured out. For some reason I didn't have to rebind it at all the whole time, which certainly helped me to concentrate.

Yeah, me too. I'd love a protective canopy so even my dumb thumbs dad can fly my quads inside.
