I was shown the following technique for ESC balancing, feel free to give it a try or recommend an alternative method.

====Proceed at your own risk====

***REMOVE THE PROPS FROM THE MOTORS***

1. remove the throttle pin from the RX on the B-EX and insert it into the BATT pins on the RX. Keep the orientation the same (don't twist it around)

2. Remove the ESC lead from the flight controller board for your replacement ESC (D3, D9, D10, D11) and plug this lead into the Throttle pins on the RX. Ensure the BROWN line on the ESC goes to where the BLACK line was on the Throttle pin.

3. turn on your TX, enable flight mode by switching GEAR to position 1. Move the Throttle on your TX to the maximum 'up' position (full throttle)

***REMOVE THE PROPS FROM THE MOTORS***

4. Connect the battery to the B-EX. You will hear the normal 'beep beep beep' sequence which is the flight controller doing its normal setup. You will ALSO hear a different 'Beep Beep' which is the ESC recording the MAX throttle setting. AS soon as you hear these two beeps, move the throttle down to the minimum/off throttle position. You will hear another two beeps as the ESC records the minimum throttle setting. The flight controller also repeats its setup 'beep beep beep' tones.

5. disconnect the battery on the B-EX. Set the throttle position on the TX to minimum. Set the GEAR switch to 0.

6. reconnect the battery on the B-EX. Once the flight controller has calibrated (beep beep beep, blue LED turns off) enable flight mode (GEAR=1, blue LED turns on) and move the throttle up. The calibrated ESC will start the motor spinning at 0.5 of the white lines on the throttle.

7. Repeat for the other ESC leads, ensure you remember which one goes where

8. once completed put the Throttle lead back on the Throttle pins from the BATT pins.

This is where I am up to, I need to calibrate the ACC and MAG as demonstrated in the video from Witold below.

lessons learned:

-fly outside on grass, not inside concrete carparks (the B-EX is NOT a 240FPV quad)
-if driving, short grass is better for the wheels/tyres as long grass gets stuck.
-Concrete will wear the tyres very quickly and the B-EX loves to spin as there is no differential.
-do low and slow maneuvers when starting off, you don't know if a channel needs to be reversed.
-buy more rotors, you WILL need them

Received mine yesterday in the post!

I have swapped the battery connectors to XT60 to match my batteries and then trialled it indoors. It drives great but I think needs to be outside to fly properly (needs space, lots of space).

I am already looking at some required spare parts, namely props and a B-EX-015 as in the attached picture. I have shattered one prop on landing and it appears to have cut through one of the outer back wheel frame ring pieces.

It can still drive but I need to change the prop before I attempt flight again

Looks great!
Maybe find out if GWS or Gemfan offer props of the same dimensions and pitch, would be cheaper and probably higher quality

Are the exact Specs of the Propeller known like pitch an so on? Arent there no spare propellers within the Box? I thought Witold said he would add 4 Spare Propellers.

I'm a bit suprised the other part broke because Witold didn't get tired of saying that it is highly durable... I guess getting these special spares could be the biggest issue in the future, I hope Witold made some kind of a contract with the factory for those parts in a long term.

Looks like alot of fun.
With such small gears I assume you need to drive her on a cleanish surface. Bark would be an issue right?

A short question from my side, B has all the sensors (gyro + acc + baro + magnetometer) connected just no GPS which could also be connected if wanted?

Furthermore i read that the multiwii bord has a fly back to position function using the baromerter, so it flys back to a ceratin height. Anyone tried this?

Mr_Fen - thanks for setting up the forum. Great to see we finally have a spot to post our adventures and woes with B.

Like you all, I got mine a few weeks back - total newb to quadcopters, but not RC Cars. Let's just say it's been a learning experience.

I already bought a stack of replacement 7x3.8 props for this thing, a balancer, and new prop adapters since like someone else on the Kickstarter site mentioned, 2 of mine had nuts that were stripped.

Lelchen - you're right - MWI offers a lot of features like autolevel and return to home if you have a GPS, etc. The barometer maintains altitude hold and compass can maintain a heading hold. But if you want to do waypoints, return to home, etc, you'll need a GPS.

This guy's youtube channel shows a lot of good stuff on Multiwii - worth a look: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list...SxkAV6KmWYPcH7

Thanks, just found a vid of this guy myself 2 minutes before your post

What kind of prob adapters did you buy? I guess at some point we all have to buy some spares others than the original ones.

Hey Guys, I have an other question as well, who is using the dx6i controller?

How many Channels are left on the receiver? I guess just 1? So it should be possible to rather switch on/off the camera or make a mode changer like acro / horizon mode?

Does the 6i have a 3 mode button?
Edit: Found this Video:
How-to get 3 Position 'Switches' on the DX6i (3 min 33 sec)

So if anyone is interested to Switch between 3 modes (low mid high) this is the way to do it

Any idea how do get this done in practice? someone wants to try with the multiwii configurator and his controller?

On off sw.

I received mine today.
Have some Qs:

Drive controller was not installed, but came separately? Is this because I ordered a kit?
Can i fly the unit without it?

There is a switch with labels 'on' and 'off' on the switch.
Does this power the entire vehicle on off?
Or just the drive engine?
It is not described in the june manual.

Also lacking on june manual: how to operate cam?
Little button connected to cam controller came off the frame, as the glue bond was broken.

My spektrum unit was mounted upside down so I could not read connector labels.

What is that usb thingy with labels dtr rxi txq vcc cts gnd for?
Not described in parts list. It comes with 12 loose wires.

Ok I dont have mine yet but here is what i unterstood so far from Witold Updates:

Yes, you got the updated version, Read Update 30 on kickstarter for more Info, it is not needed anymore!

Or just the drive engine?

This Button should be on the left upper side of your dx6i, right? If thats so, it is you toggle switch to change between drive and flight mode. Also more in Update 30.

Also lacking on june manual: how to operate cam?
Little button connected to cam controller came off the frame, as the glue bond was broken.

Just reglue it with a bit of hot glue. I think there was someting on that topic in an Update, not sure however. I guess 1 push is cam on, a second push is cam off. But I am just speculating!

Write Witold a message that this is missing and that he should Update the manual. He doesn't answer me anymore, I guess I overdone it a bit ^^

Not sure but my guess it is the dx6i reciver? there should be some kind of a lable (spectrum)? make a picture and post it, I guess this should be the easyest way to say what it is.
