HSD 75mm Viper Jet in Development

Allow me to share a few photos from HSD Hobby. They show a new plane is being developed by the company. I don't have much info about the plane yet. It looks like a Viper Jet and is designed to fly with a 75mm EDF unit.

Cheers,

feda

It needs a good 70mm foamy one. The TomaHawk viper hard to order and $140 for just the foam. Please show me a good 70mm foamy Viper!?!?

It wouldn't be too far-fetched to think a powerful 70mm fan should push this airframe equally well. :-)

75mm is an odd size....Try to talk them into 70mm or 80mm. GWS has 2 planes with the 75mm size (A-4 and J10) and on both I ended up putting 70mm fans with thrust tubes. It just makes better sense.

As for other things. I see no flaps. Does it have retracts?

It looks BIG, like it's the size of the Taft Viper next to the HSD Super Viper and J-10, which are both BIG models.

6S and 75mm fan - agree with the others posting this should be 70mm or 80mm - 80mm with a set of retracts and decent wheels for grass would be nice

As SWPS said odd size. I love my SV, but that weirdo size fan really makes methinks about buying another HSD model. iE f16 freewing. 90mm or hsd 105mm. Love the size of the model but the. Fan choice sucks.

Our test sample came in today, and I'm quite surprised by how well this model is put together. I assembled it and prepared it for flight in less than 30 minutes. I was informed that this model would be a great entry level EDF, hence the simplicity to it.

The fixed landing gears seem very sturdy, but I will see if I can get some grass tests on it. I was also told that the specific power setup (choice of EDF size, motor, etc.) would be the best combo for ideal performance in this size. I'm also surprised by how much space there is, even with a 6S 3300mAh LiPo in there!

It comes with fixed landing gears and has no flaps.

Check out this video: http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XODI4MjYzMTgw.html

It looks fast!

Cheers,

Max

not that big, but bigger than your 70mm models

1100mm wingspan (Tomahawk Viperjet 1040mm), specs here

interesting fan design - blades look more like the older Wemo style - and apparently 8 blades are enough for good sound.

Feda, this is a great video, thanks! Surely gives an impression of good speed.
I'm sure you're going to post as soon as there are news about the 75mm J-10; if they go the same route there will be no retracts, and no functional canards either. Curious how it will turn out!
Did you hear (rumors or more substantial hints) who will be prducing the F-104 Starfighter we've seen some time ago in one of the threads?

Alex, will you try to hand launch it? I have no desire for a jet with fixed gear anymore, but I'm fine hand launching and belly landing.

I just checked it right now for hand launching possibilities. Its pretty light so I'm able to get through the motions and simulate a hand launch when holding it from the bottom. But, I feel that it would be a bit overwhelming if I try this because of it's size. Since it's housing a 75mm EDF, I can't seem to get a good grip on it like the 64mm's and below. I think I may have better luck holding it from the top like in the picture below, but this may put some unnecessary stress on that area. Because of its size, I think a jetapult-style launching system can be considered if the fixed landing gears are removed and not used. Once the weather gets better here, I will check if hand launching is possible
