Ft009 Battery

So I've decided that I want to get a Ft009 but I either want to get the upgrade 2700 mah 20c battery, or a LiPo 6s. It would really be great if I could stay under $150. Can I get some help?!.

I don't know of any 2700 mah battery that would fit the boat. Also, a 6s battery will burn your esc and motor in less than 1 second.

Hello Gmanrc17,

Banggood started stocking a 2800 mAH battery for the FT009.

With their prices, I am sure you will stay within budget.

Hello everybody!

I have a ft009 and looking to add another battery in parallel or upgrade the battery.
Does anyone can tell me if there is any post about this?

Onlyme2:
I found this item at the Banggod.com. I have added it to my wishlist, but when I'm gonna place my order the item simply disappeared. Do you know any other place where I can find it?

Thanks!

Hi Schaman,

First off, welcome to the forums.

It appears that this battery is currently out of stock at Banggood.

I have Googled the battery and found it available at a few places but for a lot more than what Banggood is charging for it.

You have two viable alternatives I could think of, the first alternative is to email Banggood and inquire when they will stock this battery again.

The other alternative is to get: Turnigy nano-tech 2200mah 2S 40~80C Lipo Pack

from:

http://www.hobbyking.co.uk/hobbyking...6_models_.html

Be aware that the Turnigy battery (which I have used successfully on an FT009) is a very tight fit, and will require that you snap off the front lip of the battery holder, and also snap off a couple of plastic struts on the right hand side of the inside of the hull to allow it to fit. To secure the battery, use a Velcro strap or something similar.

Note that if you decide to go down the Turnigy route, make sure to order the battery from a local HobbyKing warehouse to save on shipping costs.

You will also need to order a plug for the battery and the ESC since the supplied plug with the battery is not compatible with the Tamiya mini plug used on the FT009.

Regards

Hello Onlyme2!

I found this battery at Banggood.com:
http://www.banggood.com/Giant-Power-...-p-943065.html

It's near the same size, wheight and power. But the price is very cheaper (due to freight, and not the product.)
I'll have to buy the Tamiya mini plug the same way for this battery. Banggood.com have it too.
So What do you think?

Another thing I want to ask you is if the weight balance is not compromised (Left and right I mean).

Thank you very much for the quick response!

Hello Schaman,

The battery you linked at Banggood would be great, do not worry about left/right battery balance (it would be insignificant with the layout of the FT09), what you need to work out is how far forward/backward you need to place the battery to cancel out porpoising (the front of the boat bobbing up and down), the only way to find the ideal position is by experimenting (remember water/wind conditions will also effect this).

Do not buy a Tamiya mini plug, they are too flimsy, and are prone to melting, since you are replacing the plug anyway go for an XT60 plug (you will also need to replace the plug on your ESC and existing battery and charger connectors).

You can find a 5 pack of XT60 at Banggood (they also do singles, and packs of ten):

http://www.banggood.com/5X-XT60-Male...-p-916559.html

Don't forget to order some shrink tube as well if you don't have some already lying around.

Regards
