Compared to the BlackPearl here is what I notice:

-
lower resolution 800x 480 vs 1024 * 600
smaller sunshield
smaller (more fragile) power barrel plug
no power output for powering external device
no HDMI input
fixed battery
12V maximum input (Black Pearl is 6V-28V)
looks bulkier and heavier. That is important if you are mounting on your remote
A/V plugs seem to be smaller (fragile)
tripod mount threads seem to be from monkey metal . I've had similar monitors with the same type of thread and it strips.
nobody has confirmed yet that it works with Immersion RC transmitters

+
battery included and available to purchase now
auto channel search

I would rather get the Black Pearl and wait another month for the battery to come out. You can power the BP from a 2S -6S Lipoly.

The Black Pearl has a much lower brightness @ 300cd/m2 vice 450cd/m2. You'll probably need that big sun shield.

I have one on the way from HobbyWow and will report on the tripod mount and pairing with the Immersion transmitter. According to the specs, the Immersion freqs match up with group D on the "all-in-one" monitor from HobbyWow.

I've had the Phantom 2 for about a week and its great, but now it's time for a monitor. I'd like to mount an LCD screen on the Phantom's remote. You seem to be praising the Black Pearl monitor; why should I purchase it? Why is it better than other LCD monitors on the market? This will be my first FPV purchase so I want to make sure it's the right one.

If it is the first the one i posted its easier to get it working, everything its inside the LCD, you only need to charge the LCD battery and set the proper channel...

make one 19" or bigger and I will be sold. Just cannot ever see myself flying by a 7" monitor , let alone at that price. I will stick to my bulky headplays and a chair

The Black Pearl DOES have a built in battery feature. And it's removable too!

It's just not in stock at Range Video just now. It will be in stock in January - in Miami!

How long does it take for the slow ship from China to bring your monitor in???
What happens if you have to send it back because it's broken?

Yes it does have a built in battery - read the pdf manual.

Also shipping from Florida to Portugal - or any other place in EU - is definitely faster than from China.
