This plane had unprecedented realism. I had three out of four engines disintegrated in the air! LOL
Thanks for watching.
This plane flies stock! Except my moded nose gear.
But honestly, though it was PNP, I did a lot of QC work B4 it went up for it's maiden.
One thing I did, that has never been mentioned in the 380 thread or to any one, I did epoxy the 3 "spokes" inside the fan unit that holDs the motor, using a JB Weld metal epoxy. Now that's crazy lot's of work done on ALL 4 EDFs. This plane has flown countless by now. The video here is the 3rd flight. The maiden flight is just as good as this video. One more crazy thing I've done was, all the ESCs & motor cables were desoldered & resoldered. Now, that's a hell of a work. To resolder the motor, I had to remove all motors from the EDF units. The ESC were desoldered from the extension cables, & resoldered. Most cheap china products are cold soldered, reason behind.
NOse gear were moded... I did not just put this together and flew.
No, I'm not crazy, just a very meticulous builder...

LAST, I THROTTLED THIS BABY (WOP) FOR 15 MINUTES STRAIGHT ON THE GROUND (USED 3 LI-POS TOTAL), NOT IN THE AIR!
IF SOMETHING BREAKS, IT WILL BE ON THE GROUND, NOT IN THE AIR...

But that is just me.
*my youtube videos/user ID is actually: spyro333777 , not the one the one from earlier video post. feel free to visit.
THANKS,
-SPYRO

For those who have yet to order there 737 I highly recommend doing so. the assembly seems very self explanatory with the exceptions of a few issue you may have to be creative with. But even As A Beginner I think that you could do basic assembly in a day or 2. As I will not assemble mine quite yet i have other kits I am currently working on but would love to see all builds as it bring creativity to this project. GL to all

Just got mine in the mail this morning.

Going with Het 2W and 6904 fans.

Hardest part will be painting this bird. Any ideas how to paint foam and having it look good?

Rick

Swarick I would try either testors or Tamiya TS type paints as they are foam safe but what ever paint you use TEST it first. From what I have learned is sometimes the type of paint will work as other colors do not react as well so be sure to test a piece 1st! GL

Testor's Model Master at the LHS works great but I'm not sure how well it holds up to masking. I've only ever painted an entire plane with one color.

Of course an easy way to do it is to pay Dante at K&C... he's an expert at painting foam & airbrushing..... or just ask his advice.....

I plan on using the Sickle rotors also, IMHO they sound the best at low RPMs for the money which helps get that turbine sound when taxing. I got 4pds out of one using 3700 kv motor on 5s but that is MAX for these things are week plastic. If there were some kind of fiber reinforced faster RPM would be a go but they're not.

The turbine sound also depends on the motor, IME the higher the cog the more you'll get that turbine whistle. There's a youtube vid of an A10 using haoye rotors and scorpion motor and you'd swear it was a turbine or he was creating that sound some how with a speaker. But it wasn't, it's the Scorpion motors at low RPM creating that turbine whistle.

Well actually the sounds all depends on the blade the more blades the better the sound check out this link this is Stumx 11 bladed fan. Keep in mind that they are very expensive($370.00USD) and they do not make them in a 70mm. Stu is in the process of making 90mm, so hopefully in a year he will make a 70mm.

Stumax SM110-52 bench test (0 min 54 sec)

Filling the foam

Wet-sanded tail with 600 grit sandpaper to remove imperfections and gloss from the foam. Then diluted Red Devil lightweight spackle with glass cleaner solution till it has lotion consistence. Massaged it in the foam with a finger and set aside to dry for 24 hours. Will be sanding it off tomorrow.
