Question
Finishing f/glass

Glider fuse; 3/4 oz glass; want to fill weave and edges of overlaps before painting. What do people use that is more 'bulky than primer, and can then be rubbed down before priming? I don't need a concours finish, but it would be nice to have it looking pretty good! Do you sand the edges of your pieces where they overlap? Oh, and how do you cut f/glass without it fraying...?

( I have searched a bit)

Usually glasssed overlaps are sanded smooth.

Automotive high build primer can be used to fill the weave, after the fuselage has been sanded, to remove the gloss.

I use this automotive putty from the auto parts store. Wet sands to a feather edge and slick as glass. Been using one brand or another for 30 years.

What Tom says. After sanding the laps they should become invisible for the most part. The automotive high build primer will fill the weave nicely and after sanding 99% off there is very little weight gain. The final coat of primer is only thick enough to "just cover" and give an even color/coverage.
