Raptor 2.0 A real Dyna-Soar...... 2M bagged DS'er build Log

Hi im currently in the Process of Designing a 2m DS Ship in Cad For light to medium DS ...called the Raptor 2.0
You may notice the Trileronss on the Ailerons to Reduce Tip Vortices...
it Uses A Thinned RG-14 Foil and i am aiming for an AUW of 1.5-3Kg...RTF With Full ballast and 800g no ballast
i Plan to Use a T-tail ... Though i am unsure on Rudder size?
any Help?
Let me know your Thoughts?

Keenan,
Looks like a fun project, all the best. As for thinning the RG14, I would say that for DS at medium speed it would not be necessary and may be detrimental in some respects. Since you have CAD software, I would suggest test fitting your spar/shear and servos of choice to make sure your T/C will fit them where desired. You may end up rethinking how thin you go with the wing based on the need for improved servos for DS.

T-Tails are easy to build and have fewer parts to mould/build, so that is a no brainer. As for a rudder, its not needed for DS, so if you add one it won't help your DSing.

Draw Top view of fuselage so i can Generate the Cross sections..

That thing's going to pull up QUICK with those flaps haha. I don't know of any DS models with the flaps that big (or ailerons that small for that matter)

Can't wait to see the elevator with trilerons (Or should it be called a trilevator)

Thanks Rhys... Lol
ill only mix a Lil snap Flaps
and for Roll Control the Flaps Will Act as Ailerons Also .. To Aid Rolling about that Axis...
Im Planning For A Carbon D-box Kinda Thing and If all Goes Well i'll Build A few and Sell them... What Do you think of the Looks?

little Surface + Big Movements = High Drag!
Bigger Surface + SMall movements - Low Drag!

Well I'm A Big! Fan of concepts and Designing the Rought Shape of a Model By how Cool It Looks.. Lol
im aall about Reducing Induced Drag And Knowing How trilerons Reduce Vortices Coming off of Ailerons Then Why Should'nt it Work for an Elevator...? Well Theres only One WayTo Find out ....

Keenan,

Great to see another DS project starting in UK.

But before committing, why not have a word with a few other UK DSers currently involved in design/build?
It might shift your priorities.

Aerogance has already drawn attention to rudder & profile issues.

Perhaps speak with e.g. Hobster & Will Deighton.
Just my 2p.
