The one major flaw in the Ipad.... No Flash.... It pisses me off too.

Flash doesn't help for .WMV files. Even on my Android XYboard I had to download a video translator app called MX Video to play those types of files. There were actually several apps available but MX was the only one that actually worked. However, even with MX I had to switch codec from "H/W" to "S/W" for Davids Whopper vids. Don't what all that does/is but it worked.

I've got one of these beasts in storage. I tried to fly it a couple times but was never really successful. I need to rebuild the tail section and glue/paint up a new body I found before trying again. But I only have the original style blades. Appareantly there was a better set available but I could never get my hands on a set reasonable so I stashed the bird away and haven't looked at it since.

Nice videos!

And I always wanted one of these years ago...any chance anyone knows where I might be able to find one (preferably NIB)?

Nice flying of that rare classic!

They're pretty rare, but come up on flea-bay sometimes.

I had one of these about 15 years ago also, it flew like a Glider, I used different main blades from the stock ones.

Autogyro ?

I am confused watching the two videos.

In the first video the rotor starts turning before any forward motion.
I understand that forward motion is what makes the rotor turn in an autogyro.

Are we looking at a helicoptor equipped with a forward pulling propeller ?

The whopper has a pre-rotator. Throwing a switch on the transmitter allows the glow engine power to be transmitted to the rotor blades and turn them. Bringing the rotor up to speed before take off prevents rolls to the left if the model leaves the ground before the rotor head is fully up to speed. Once you supply sufficient motor power to start moving forward, you throw the switch again and disengage the tranmission of power to the rotor blades.

Thanks GBR2 for your explanation.

I am now curious how this is accomplhed but am not asking for any further explanations.
