Any guess on the speed? Balsa Babyshark on 4s

What would you guess the speed on this might be?

Motor is MicroDan 2900KV
Prop is TGS 5x5
1000mAh 4S lip

Balsa Babyshark 4S low flyby's (2 min 24 sec)

would anyone be able to check doppler with this youtube video?
Or would you need a different file format?

The first few passes weren't very close, some of the later passes 1:44, 1:57, 2:06 were right over head but by that time the battery was almost done.
This battery wasn't fully charged so it didn't last too long so hopefully with a better battery I might squeeze out a little more speed... lol.

Here are my calculations for speed using an air temperature of 80 degrees. I just picked through for the cleanest audio and fastest passes. This is in order of passes, but I skipped a few where the audio was too noisy. Each line is a single pass, with multiple calculations for a few different harmonic frequencies, averaged into a single speed.

124.5 mph
123.6 mph
121.2 mph
130.8 mph
92.5 (poor plot, far away and noisy)
117.5 mph
123.7 mph (very good close pass)
128.4 mph

I think in good conditions with a good battery you should be seeing 130+ mph.

I may have to have you build me one of these, I have some 3 cell rhino 1250/1350/1550 35C's that need to go faster

For anyone who hasn't seen Dave's planes, they are wicked fast little pylon type fliers with really sharp looks. I've never seen foam OR balsa fly faster! Check them out: http://www.nanoplanes.net

Thanks for taking the time to check these speeds for me. I'm glad it came out close to my guestimations. It gives me a little more confidence estimating speeds with my Eyeball radar gun. hehe

I'm in MidWilshire area, more commonly known as Korea Town.
Local pick ups are no problem and yes that is Apollo 11 airfield.
If you are interest I do have one that I just finished up tonight that is ready to sell completely done & receiver ready.

Typically I fly at Apollo 11 every Saturday so I'll be taking this new one tomorrow to sell.

Otherwise the kits will be available on the website probably by Wednesday next week. Local pick up should not be purchased through the website, just let me know.

Balsa Babyshark kits are now available!

In case you are doubtful of the strength of this balsa airframe check out this video:

Great stuff, Dave! I love that red beast!! I'm gradually building up the nerve to pull those kinds of turns back to back to back on my purple and gold monster.

Have you shot video yet with the MAS 6x4 prop on 4S?

I definitely need more Blue 4S lipos....

I have yet to try the Master Airscrew prop on 4S. I hear that is a really good prop on 4S for these MicroDAN 2900 kv motors

by the way, BLUE Lipo 4S 1000 mAh packs are great but I have made my own custom packs from two Rhino 1050 2S 30C packs and that makes a huge difference!

good Small 4S packs are hard to find.... If anyone knows if there are any in the 1000 mAh range please let me know.

Yea this little thing is built pretty strong. The wing is not your typical Balsa built up wing. It is basically a 1/8" bottom sheet and a 1/8" top sheet that is sandwiching some ribs and carbon fiber spars. It's a little more complicated than that but let's just say it's really strong! That plus the small size (24 inch wingspan) and light weight (11 ~ 12 oz) equals BIG Performance!

This plane is tons of fun! You can really fly the heck out of this thing without any problems.

Well there is one problem.... it gets small fast.
