I need to extend the power leads 12" from the PL6 to the power supply. I know the PL8 comes with 10AWG, but the PL6 comes with 12AWG.

Should the extended leads be better with 10AWG, or is 12AWG fine? (I will be pulling 40A on some of my charging)

Although 12AWG would probably work, my preference would be to use 10AWG. Wire resistance is cumulative. The larger size will run cooler with less voltage drop.

I have a pile of batteries I want to check the maH capacity on. Can the PL6 do that? At what discharge rate? Regenerative only right? I have a deep cycle battery, that would work right?

Internal discharge is 50 watts. Depending on the pack size and amount of time you are willing to wait, that might be enough. Since you have a Pb battery the discharge rates can be much higher.

Can you help me a bit regarding the input plug of this charger?
I've bought it but don't have it yet, and I'm preparing the connector because when I get it I won't be in my lab.

So, the official description reads:
Quote:
12AWG input wire terminating with an EC5, female pin connector
This doesn't sound "right". Why female connector on a device?
Or maybe this pic has got it all wrong:

FMA's pics are not close enough. Can someone confirm that this is correct?:

So let's just call them "male/female pins" and "male/female housing". Looks like PL6 has female pins and male housing.

thanks

You are correct, it is backwards. I asked why this was done once and they said it was for safety. Since the charger automatically does a regenerative discharge when set as running from 'battery' they didn't want someone to power it from a lipo and inadvertently do a regenerative discharge. It's more of a lets make this inconvenient so someone is less likely to screw up.

Most people I know have replaced the connector with the male device connector. I replaced mine with an APP

Thanks!
Yes I'll also replace with what I use (XT60s) but not until I make sure the charger is good and won't need replacement/warranty etc...

I have removed then from my PL6 but I assume they are the same as the Dual PowerLab 8X2 which is female pins and female housing.

The "pins" in the image are definitely female. Same as you should find on most packs. Look close. You'll see a hole, not the tip of a pin. Trust me, what will arrive is charger with the female "pins". Again same as most users are configuring for their packs.

Yes I agree, female "pins" or "metal things" haha.
But the plastic housing looks male to me... not female

Yes yes, but I was confused by ggcrandall1's comment:

I'll assume it's just what I see in the pic: female metals, male housing.
Next saturday (1 week) I'll have it in my hands

Here is what is on the Dual PL8

The connector on the left is the input power to the right channel.
The connector on the right is from my 24V power supply.

The shell on the power supply connector goes over the shell on the input power connector.
