IS it worth replacing the 2212 1000kv to 800kv ?

flying a quad with A2212 1000 kv motors. works very well with a 3s 4000 & 10X4 props. lately I added a gimbal and FPV equipment, the weight is about 1.8kg.

flight duration is 6 minutes tops. I would like to increase flight time. changing to a lower KV motor, like these 800kv A2212 with bigger prop (11-12), will provide noticable defference ?

ecalc shows almost no difference which is a bit strange.

Those Mystery motors are Suppo motors and, as far as I know, they are the same as Suppos other than the labes and markings. You can see the Suppo models here:

They show a 930 Kv motor but not an 800 Kv version. But maybe there is such a motor and you can get it...

As far as the question, you will still have the same number of Amp/Minutes available in the battery and, if the two motors are well matched to the props and operating with about the same efficiency they will use up the capacity in the same amount of time. There will not be a major drop in the input power with the lower Kv motor, it is just that 800 Kv motor is better matched to the larger prop than the 1000 Kv motor would be. That is why eCalc finds it that way.

You can estimate your Amp/Minutes, a typical battery will give you about 80% of its marked capacity as useable capacity. You can see that as the amount you recharge after a flight now if you charger shows you the recharged capacity (that will include a small amount of overhead due to heat losses). 4000 mAH x 80% = 3200 mAH useable capacity

320 mAH = 3.2A

3.2A x 60 minutes = 192 Amp/Minutes

If you are using that up in six minutes your quad is flying at an average current draw rate of 32A.

The way to increase the endurance is to increase the capacity of the batteries.

just purchased some 3s 5000 packs to increase flight times.

since I have many 5S 4000 pack, I am toying with the idea to replace the electrical system with a 5S setup. however, that requires changing the esc's and adding a lot of weight. I'll see how it goes with the larger 3s packs first.

Glad to be of help.

And if you can haul the weight you could take a pair of the 4000 packs and put them in parallel to make a 8000 mAH pack. If there were times when you flew without the gimbal or camera and were lighter it might work out. Ideally the packs parallel would be of same brand, condition as far as aging, and capacity.

Pretty easy and cheap to make up a parallel adapter, worth a try.

I hope you try the parallel config out. I would really like to know if you get more flight time or the added weight negated the extra battery power.

I think you need to adjust your motor/prop combo. I'm flying at 1.5kg and draw 17amps in a hover with my max peaks at 20. My setup is for FPV. 32 amps is very high IMO for your weight.

I've got a 930kv on 3s swinging a 10x4.5 and get roughly 8 minutes on a 2600 pack..

I think he would get 10 min out of 4000's in parallel. He may need to move up to 2217 size motors. My thinking is his average Amps would drop to about 25-28 (maybe less) making better use of the mAH's. 2212's really seem to struggle with anything above 1.5kg IMO but 32 average amp draw does seem high. Jackerbes would probably be better to field this than me in terms of moving up to 2217's. Im more of a fly by feel, he's got the math and facts.
Edit: Most likely they are suppo's and the specs 2212-13turn is a 1000kv motor. There is a 15 turn motor which is 930kv.
