If I go with the Sabre, would four TowerPro 9g analog servos be sufficient or should I go with metal gear servos? (Not to be lazy, but I didn't want to go back to search and read all the posts about servos for the Sabre.) I do remember reading someone also using a combo of 2 metal and 2 plastic. But I didn't remember which pair would be best for the ailerons and which pair for the tail feathers. I have four new TowerPro 9g analog servos and thought I could save a few bucks without having to buy new metal servos.

If it were me I'd spend the little extra and go with the TP90, more torque and I have them in three of my planes and have worked the crap out of them with no failures in over a year. They have survived some pretty hard crashes in both of my Telink foamies. I am using a Hobbywing esc that puts out 6 volt from the bec and it works great. I believe they are a 40 amp esc if I remember correctly. You can also get ZTW esc's now with the 6 volt bec and I have had great performance from them as well.

Yep, this is a nice 3D flyer! Although mine came out a tad overweight, she flies great. The build went well but a manual would still be nice. I ended up taking off the servo connectors to get the servo wires through the tight fus tunnel and wings. Here are my specs:
RCTimer 2830-11 1000kv (450 equivalent 52g rated @ 210W) RCTimer 30A ESC APC 11x3.8SF prop PowerUp 9g Metal Gear servos (4x) Various 1300 mAh 25-30C lipos AUW = 21.5 oz. Great design Spaz! Thanks to everyone with your helpful contributions for my build. Steve |
