Build Log
Dynam Meteor V2 with Wemotec Minifan EVO

This is going to be my build log for the Dynam Meteor V2.

Power system:
Motor: HET 2W-27
Fan: Wemotec Minifan EVO
ESC: Hobbywing Flyfun 100 amp

I am going to be running 6S which is suppose to be around 1200 watts so this model should haul pretty good. If you are ordering the Wemotec fan from my website make sure to choose the 4mm rotor adapter as that is the size shaft on the 2W-27.

Alternate power setup for 4S (lighter as ESC is smaller and motor is lighter):
Motor: HET 2W-20
Fan: Wemotec Minifan EVO
ESC: Hobbywing Flyfun 60 amp
This setup will be about 820 watts on 4S. If you are ordering the Wemotec fan from my website make sure to choose the 3.17mm rotor adapter as that is the size shaft on the 2W-20.

Now on to the build!

Here are some photos. I am using the inlet ring on the EVO fan to ensure the fan is feed properly on the inlet side. I used a Dremel to hog out some foam so the ring will fit. I also had to cut some foam to make the mounting tabs fit correctly. Note the back of the EVO fan is pushed rearward to meet up to the outlet. I epoxied some 1/16" plywood to be able to screw the fan unit into the fuselage. I also cut a notch in the inlet lip to allow the motor wires to puss by in the molded channel in the body. More photos to come as I get more done.

Interesting thread Don , I'm just now waiting for the same Meteor to show up in the mail . I too will be using the Wemo evo Mini and It'll will be powered by an Het 1w-40 with Yep 150A and 5S 3300 revolectrix . Might even experiment with 6S , after a while .Anyway subscribed , and I'll probably use a tip or two from your build . I'm going to bury some carbon arrow shaft through the model in the wings and maybe the horizontal stabs .

That sounds like some real power! I am going to add some carbon too. Just got the fan mounted. I am now debating on adding in a thrust tube as the recommended outlet is 56mm for the EVO fan and the stock outlet is much bigger.

I've made a thrust tube for my Vampire from .005 stainless sheet, and then before installing it in the plane , I heated it up with a propane torch so it discoloured into the blues and golds , as are usual in turkey feathers on jets . The .005 stainless is almost as light as a mylar tube would be . Only a few grams difference and much stronger and more authentic looking . This is what is going into my Meteor and also an outside stainless set of turkey feathers . The thrust tube in the pic weighs a hair over 1/2 oz so Why not ?

That is cool looking with the blue temper. Never though of using that for a thrust tube!
