Can anyone tell me if the flapped version has top or bottom hinged control surfaces for the flaps?

If you're getting a Jolt 2, you may want the flap version. The plane is a lil heavy and doesn't slow down well. Mine is no flap and it lands fast!

No I'm not getting a Jolt 2, definitely going for a Swist, just not sure whether to get a flapped version or not.

I have the Swist as well. I bought the flapped version. I'm also using a Neu 1115/1.5D with P29/5.2 gearbox, GM10x23 prop, CC130 Edge Lite & TP 5S 1800mah 70C in it. Went with (4) Hyperion HP-DS09 AMD's in the wing and (1) MKS DS6100 on the elevator. I wanted a geared one after building my Jolt 2 as direct drive no flap.

I take it you've not suffered any flutter from the flaps?

Nope. Do the linkage properly, you won't get flutter. Good servos, good horns (servo & control), make the holes slightly snug. Don't put the holes too close to the surface.

On a two servo wing run spoilerons...they work rather well...not as good as flaps or crow but better than nothing and they do slow fast airframes down a bit
