Build Log
ChocoFly Attacko 2.9 EL

I just received this today. I pondered many days thinking of what I wanted in my next sailplane. If I have learned anything at all during my 50 yrs of life, it's the fact that one machine simply cannot "do it all". I wanted a plane that would allow some thermaling, but it also had to have enough meat to it to allow some high speed and high G style flying with destroying itself. I've looked at the Viking, but the cost and wait times were more than I was willing to endure. The Eso and Energic are very nice also, but neither screamed "buy-me". I found this beautiful, full carbon ship quite by accident. Advertised as an All-Arounder, I think it's emphasis leans more towards speed and less towards floating. I plan on doing an impromptu build thread, as I have found absolutely "0" information on this bird. Hopefully, I can lean on some of you for advice during the build. I am still in the process of determining my means of locomotion. I have this new Jeti 2035 (similar to a NEU 1512 1.5d) but I would have to cut approximately 1/2 from the nose. I am trying to decide if I should go with a 28MM inrunner/gearbox instead, which would not require cutting the nose. I currently own an Enigma with 3700 watts, but I don't want that much power here. Maybe around 2500 watts. I'm sure the plane will handle all of the power one would choose, however, I am not looking to build another F5B or hotliner type aircraft.

Go for the Jetti!!!
You will not save weight here.
This bird need the Jetti on the nose for counter balance.
I buit a Pace recently for a friend, he opted for a smaller motor, same reasons you have now.
A the end he saved 150g on a 3.6kg plane and it lacks some power...

Jetti is the right way to go!.

Wing bottoms are almost as beautiful as the tops. The manufacturer even had the foresight into providing one white servo cover. The flaps and ailerons are both bottom hinged, and top driven. The control rod holes are precut into the top of the wing (saves me and my shaky hands from dremeling out some unsightly holes). The kit provides some adequately thick composite control horns, and their corresponding locations are also cut out into the aileron and flap surfaces. How nice is that! Assembly manual consists on one page. At least it's in English

plus another $75 to ship. Etienne (from Icare) is a good fellow. I've dealt with him a few times over the years. Gryphon, please delete some of your inbox junk mail. I've tried to PM you, but your inbox is full

Here is their web site: http://www.chocofly.com/modelle/

Seng is building it with the recommended power system so he won't have any trouble...However, the fuselage at the nose is not designed for a full blown F5B setup. I contacted the guys at Choco Fly (great guys!) awhile back when Icare first offered it. I was told by the builders that if I wanted to put 5+KW in it, the nose would have to be re-enforced...and that came directly from the builders.

In other words a 15 series Neu with a 18x23GM at 8 to 10S would probably rip the nose off...the rest of the airframe can take it, it just needs a bit more meat up front to be a full blown hotliner....have been tempted to get it and make the mods it truly is a beautiful plane

The Cox Shrike was a Christmas present of my older brothers when I was around 6 yrs old. I remember that we used to run it on its tether in my Grandmas basement in Michigan. My brother eventually gave it to me (or I stole it), I cant exactly remember which
I may end up ordering some Hyperion servos for the wings (thanks LK), instead of using my Hitec 5125mg's that I have now. I will order the servos and servo trays when I get home from work tonight. Building of the wing will commence when the servos arrive. This will give me a couple of days to gather the needed clevises and pushrods
