Seems the Devo 8s has Voltage,Temperatur and Gps information. http://www.maxsuner.com/images/walke.../minicp-04.jpg

Interesting, one would think a factor of 3.....

Well... yes - but when I said 'ideal situation' I meant in terms of your flying area (i.e. wide open field with no obstructions), not that all efficiencies in the TX were ideal as well... but you are correct (and can officially call yourself a smartae! )

and here's some Excel based maths for everyone else.
Assuming a 10mW TX does ~1000m...

Power(mW) ................................. Range (m)
10 ............ =300/SQRT(1/10) ........ 948.6832981
100 .......... =300/SQRT(1/100) ...... 3000
1000 ........ =300/SQRT(1/1000) ..... 9486.832981
10000 ...... =300/SQRT(1/10000) ... 30000

But then there are reflections, absorption, interference, etc, etc in the real world to deal with compared to the theoretical world so one might wish to leave a bit of a safety factor in there.

Yeah maybe, but it's bundled with old/cracked software so if you buy it you're not supporting the guys that spent lots of time producing a decent SIM so you can save money on spares and fly when the weather is bad.
If you can afford an RC heli you can afford phoenix or RF.

Oh, i thought that cable was something you needed besides the software.

Edit. Has anyone disassembled a devo 7E and taken photos of its internals?

If you buy the 7E and also the 'honest' version of RealFlight or Phoenix you should get everything you need except a stereo to mono converter - and you can buy them at Amazon or at many other places.

I've not bothered taking it apart yet. I suspect that it looks reasonably similar to the 6 but with a different display driver.

What do you want to know about the insides?

different display driver <- primarily this, but id love to see the quality of the soldering and how the tx antenna is connected.

I would like to know all the exact texts on all chips!

Detailed large images of both side of the main pcb would be great to find out where are the devices are conected to the mcu...
...but if you don't want to take that much apart, pictures on the back side will do!

I'll check when I get chance. Maybe tonight if Websphere starts behaving itself... grrr...

Cool, thanks!

So the mcu and the spi flash is known, but interestingly they used some cheepo looking tx module in it!
All the previous DEVO's used the replacable WK-21201 RF module... (except the 2402D)
