Scratch Built CRJ-200 American Eagle 27 inch span

Hey all,

Finally got around to posting the construction pics of my CRJ I built.

This was a personal project for the scale competition at E-Fest this past February. It ended up being just a little too fast to fly comfortably in the Armory so I am waiting for some nice calm evenings to go out and play with it.

Construction is all depron. Its a 3mm cruciform frame wrapped in 1mm sheet.
Wing is flat bottom 3mm with a vertical spar and top skin of 1mm. Flaps are actuated by bellcranks and ailerons use flexible pushrod so all the flaps and both ailerons are driven by a single servo each.

Functions are throttle, ailerons, elevator, retracts and slotted flaps.

Power is two 28mm EDF units from the UMX Mig 15. I am using the long throw linear servos on the elevator and rudder, while the flaps, retracts and ailerons use the Blade 130X larger linear servos.

For the retracts, the main gear are Robart hinge points with a small music wire coil spring for shock absorption. The nose is a telescoping strut with the music wire shock. The best part is when the plane is off the ground the main gears are un-sprung and when it is sitting on the ground they "squat" to give the proper attitude on the ground.

All up weight is 8 1/4 ounces.

Uses a 450-500mAh 2 cell lipo for power.

Anyway here are the pics!

Enjoy.

Absolutely beautiful and incredible scale work Matt! I'd love to see a flight video.

Any more info on the retracts or elevator mechanism?
