Cool
First flight - R & R XC

In the heat of the desert with nothing around for miles I flew my recently acquired R&R XC for the first time.

With some buddies for support the big old thing went straight up the winch line and floated gracefully around.

No drama, thank goodness

Hey Steve

will download the altimeter plots later, had a pro on the sticks for one flight and it showed.

John was wingman for the ROG but didn't take the sticks.

we used about 900' (300 paces) from winch to turnaround on a couple of flights, a lot of stretch in braided line at that length.

will have to practice my spot landings !!!!!!!!! it can be a fast flyer.

RAM-3 data

one flight looks like I launched in lift and then flew away from it...............

next flight we had GMo on the sticks and he had no trouble finding lift, then handed me the Tx and went off to eat his Subway sandwich.........

a great day in the desert, got a few adjustments to make and then try it again

When's Cal Valley XC ??????????

Philip
thanks to Jen, Virginia, John and George

Great stuff Phillip your going to have nothing but fun with that glider
For your next go at it have George bring his big easy recliners, put them in the pickup truck, get that SBXC in the air and hit the road for a real different soaring experience.
It's really a blast. Cal Valley is happening on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, September 21, 22, 23. Also go to yahoo groups: XCSoaring. also "xcsoaring.com"
Hope to see you guys at the Cal Challenge

hey Rick

glad that first flight is over, the big XC looked really good cruising around.

with GMo flying it got high real quick and the air was very dirty, dusty so even at 800' it could go out of sight with a front-on view.

at the moment it's hard to imagine doing this from a moving vehicle but we're keen to try, I think I am.

I've noted those dates

Oops, reliving the past can be fun, thanks for the correction. There you are Phil correspondence from two of the top XC pilots, you're in the loop now. Have fun.
