Question
What do you use for wing tape on 3 piece wing

What do you use for wing tape at the Poly brake on a 3 piece wing?

Where to get it? I've seen it before, but I can't find it.

Lots of different choices. I prefer 3M #35 electrical tape. Good adhesion, doesn't get sticky in the the central valley sun/heat, plenty of color choices.

hi there from Toledo

I use 1.5" wide blue painter's tape or green frog tape. They cover the gap pretty well and peel off easily when the time comes to go home. Check out HD or Lowes or some such in the paint dept.

Put down some clear packing tape first on the panels, about 1/2 " on each side. This is permanent. Then use electrical tape over that to join the wing panels.

Most flyers I know use electrical tape. As ak79 said, put down clear packing tape first so that you don't pull up the Monokote when removing the electrical tape

3M #190 tape. It comes in clear, black, and all the primary colors, in .75" and 1.5" widths.

Ace hardware carries it. Look for the display of rolls of tape that aren't in any packaging.

I like ak79's idea of a permanent strip of packing tape, but I prefer regular Magic tape that comes in a tear-of dispenser for the temporary tape. Don't reuse the temp tape.

Thanks guys. I've been using the packing tape and electrical tape. I'll continue doing that. And now the electrical tape comes in a variety of colors.

Blue painters tape as well.

Not the new easy release kind .... it has a design on the tape, so it's not solid blue.

I use 3M #764 which I believe is what Isthmus Models sells. Claude Turner in Visalia also sell it. Its a great tape for joining panels.
