Futaba vs Tactic

Need to upgrade radio. Tower Hobbies as Futaba 4YF plus 5 servos for $150. They also have a a Tactic TTX610 with 2 servos for $99.98. What I was wondering is how they compare as far as price and quality of servos and if Tactic is a decent brand. Have been out of R/C along time and had a Futaba way back then. Thanks

They are both very basic but the Tactic has a leg over the Futaba 4YF, in addition to six channels it also has dual rate and more mixes than 4YF which only has elevon mix(aileron/elevator) for flying wing. The Tactic offer also V-tail mix(rudder/elevator)and much more modern in design than the 4YF in addition to fail-safe Rx:

I'd highly recommend a true upgrade to the Tactic TTX650.
My review is here

and there are a lot more reviews on the Internet and Youtube.

Check out the review at Motion RC

Just got a few Tactic servos to try, the price point and specs seem great. As for radios, agree with the above, either go with the TTX650, or if you want to stick with Futaba, take a close look at the T6J. Plenty of features for a good price.

Dont forget to use the coupon codes when ordering from Tower.

I'm a Futaba guy, but in this price range I think Tactic offers a lot more bang for the buck, and as reasonable as the Futaba S-FHSS receivers are, the Tactic receivers are even more reasonable.
Also, Hobbico has a boat load of SLT compatible Tx ready models to compete with Spektrum BNF.
With a Futaba radio you'll need the AnyLink module, with a Tactic radio, just link and fly with the Flyzone SLT planes
The AirCore models blow any Spektrum/HH BNF offering away. 2S lipo and brushless motors for a price that HH can't touch.

In the long run the TTX650 is a better choice with 20 model memories. With the 610, you'd have to have every model setup the same as far as servo reversing and trims go.
Single model radios went out with brushed motors, Nimh and the 20th Century
You really want a radio you can grow with for a while, not outgrow in a month

That AirCore system is indeed very clever, and a good models selection to booth! A nice improvement over the old Cox war birds series of yore.
